Japan celebrates Rainbow Day (虹の日) on July 16th. This is a play on words. The rainbow has seven colors (nana iro in Japanese), and people celebrate Rainbow Day on 7-1-6 (nana i ro). With that explanation out of the way, let’s appreciate some cute anime girls with multicolored hair.
1. Mitsuri Kanroji (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba)
Mitsuki’s multicolored hair has a blend of pink and green. It’s a fun blend of colors for a fun and ruthless demon slayer. She’s the current Love Hashira with a lovely figure and a heart-shaped weapon.
J-List has plenty of cute demon slayers on offer. The Shinobu Kocho 1/8 ARTFX J Figure from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is available for purchase right now.
Koyoharu Gotouge wrote and illustrated the original Demon Slayer manga series between February 15th, 2016, and May 18th, 2020. Shueisha published all 23 volumes in Weekly Shonen Jump. Ufotable’s anime adaptation began airing on April 6th, 2019.
2. Stocking (Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt)
Stocking uses navy blue and pink tones for her multicolored hair. This two-tone theme might stretch to her supposed demon nature, though that might just come from Gainax messing with people. Regardless, Stocking uses her actual stockings as powerful angelic weapons. She’s proficient in combat, but her lazy attitude saw her sent to Daten City.
Gainax began airing Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt on October 1st, 2010.
3. Uta (One Piece)
Uta’s multicolored hair splits vertically into red and white. This diva can light up the stage for Rainbow Day during her next performance. She was prepared to bring an end to everything with her music, but meeting Luffy and Shanks changed her tune.
Eiichiro Oda began writing and drawing this series on July 22nd, 1997. Shueisha has published 106 volumes thus far. Toei Animation’s anime adaptation began airing on October 20th, 1999.
4. Ibaraki Douji (Onigiri)
Ibaraki has a vertical cut like Uta that divides her black and red tones. Her cat tail ends in white as well. She also has differently colored eyes, one blue and one yellow. This trait lends itself to her half-oni status. Ibaraki takes up a cat-themed katana in combat alongside the player. This contrasts with her sommelier profession. Yes, Ibaraki is a cat girl who likes to drink and fight.
J-List has another cute girl named Douji in stock. The Assassin/Shuten Douji 1/7 Figure Festival Portrait from Fate/Grand Order is available for purchase right now.
CyberStep released the original Onigiri video game on February 6th, 2014. Studio Pierrot’s anime adaptation began airing on April 7th, 2016.
5. Hinoki Sai (Betterman)
The Sai family might have the same multicolored hair trait: two pink bangs on either side of a single green bang. It’s the perfect hairstyle for Rainbow Day. Her parents and brother vanished during an expedition to the Ajanta Caves in India. Since then, she has become a mech pilot for Akamatsu Industries.
Yoshitomo Yonetani and Hiroshi Yamaguchi directed and wrote Betterman. Sunrise began airing the series on April 1st, 1999.
6. Luna (Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL)
Luna’s multicolored hair has a crown of pink that gives way to a sea of black. She defected from Dr. Faker’s side and became one of the Number Hunters. Luna works with Shark to dispatch the Numbers before they corrupt people.
J-List has a few card-based beauties. The Wynn the Wind Charmer 1/7 Figure from Yu-Gi-Oh! is available for purchase right now.
Kazuki Takahashi first released Yu-Gi-Oh! on September 17th, 1996. Since then, multiple series and protagonists have come to save the world by winning card games. Kazuki Takahashi, Shin Yoshida, and Naohito Miyoshi released the original Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL manga series between December 2010 and June 2015. Shueisha published all nine volumes in V Jump. Studio Gallop’s anime adaptation first premiered on April 11th, 2011.
7. Ragyo Kiryuin (Kill la Kill)
Let’s wrap this up with a rainbow-haired beauty. Ragyo’s hair dazzles bright with numerous different colors. Don’t let that fool you because she is pure evil. She uses her daughter as a weapon and gets a bit too close to her. That’s either awesome or sick, depending on your kinks. Ragyo also has plans to take over the world with alien clothes. Again, kinky awesome or kinky sick.
Hiroyuki Imaishi directed, and Kazuki Nakashima wrote this anime series for Studio Trigger. 24 episodes and one OVA aired between October 4th, 2013, and March 28th, 2014.
