Gojou comes over to Marin’s house to watch anime. Marin’s heart soars from the date-like setting.
Episode 7 – “A Home Date with the Guy I Wuv is the Best”
Hmm.
Gojou and Marin are cosplaying unicorns in My Dress-Up Darling. A unicorn is a mythical beast that rarely appears and only allows virgins to ride it. There’s no mounting and riding here yet, but the main characters’ incredible cosplaying attributes rarely manifest in first-time hobbyists. Marin is beautiful, an otaku who appreciates intricate lore. And she honors the spirit of the characters she wants to portray. Sajuna can’t handle meeting her for the first time.
Similarly, Gojou respects the setting and period that the characters come from. Those things affect the fabric choices for the costumes he would make. And he’s thinking about these factors on his first attempts at dressmaking. Sajuna can’t handle that either! Pure amateurs, who are at the start of their cosplay collaboration, make veteran pro moves. Sajuna appreciates their skill and attitude, but she also feels jealousy. Marin and Gojou haven’t paid the dues that Juju, the renowned cosplayer, has. It’s not fair!
I’m glad My Dress-Up Darling keeps showing Marin’s developing “wuv” for Gojou. She wants to give him the girlfriend experience, but she needs to become a better cook. Practice, practice, practice! She can make more meals at her apartment. Better yet, she can cook with Gojou at his place for a family dinner. Marin just needs to spend more time with Gojou. She wants to do that anyway. Make your “wuv” grow, girl!
Heh.
Gojou walks in on Marin’s rejection. No cosplay collab for you! Juju-sama has standards! Uh oh. Studio time is expensive. There it is! Go half on the costs. That’ll convince Sajuna to let Marin do a group cosplay session. Fun! The My Dress-Up Darling episode title has the “wuv” translation again.
Sajuna wants to save money for more dresses, so she’ll team up with Marin. Gojou impresses Sajuna by wanting to binge-watch the anime. He wants to understand the characters before choosing their fabrics. Ha! Sajuna knows all the “action” scenes from the Slippery Girls games! Woof. Flower Princess Blaze!! had 126 episodes. Vintage anime from 2006. Marin has the complete DVD box set, because of course, she does! What an excuse. The box set weighs so much that Gojou needs to pick them up at Marin’s place.
Grandpa Gojou is just happy that his grandson has a friend. Friends go to each other’s house all the time, right? Grandpa also likes how Gojou’s Hina doll face painting improved after his experience of doing Marin’s makeup. Marin loosened him up.
Whoa. Marin just got out of bed. That’s a nice look. Uh, what happened to her red eyes? Gojou-kun. Marin’s eyes are up there, not where her, um, bust points are. Oh. Marin wears colored contact lenses. For fun. Well, she is a gal. My Dress-Up Darling shows Marin’s friends decorate themselves with hairstreaks, piercings, and more flair. I love these keyboard smash translations. In fact, I “wuv” them. Everything’s better now. Colored contacts covered her brown eyes, and a hoodie covered her points.
Aw. Gojou brought pudding. Here we go, here we go! A teenage boy and girl alone in an apartment… binge-watching anime! Living the dream, guys, living the dream. Marin’s room looks just as we should expect from My Dress-Up Darling. Man, I want that hug pillow! These wall scrolls are foreshadowing. We will see hot teenage girls wear these costumes. Oh, yes! Unfortunately, Marin lost girlie points with Gojou.
Ah. There’s the costume for Black Lobelia. I see boob bag issues. Gojou nails the problem of magical girl shows. The girls primarily use magic for the transformation scene! Haha! Flower Princess Blaze!! even has male shipping characters. I can totally see female cosplayers dressing like the love interests.
Uh oh. Marin realized she was on a date with the guy she “wuvs.” There’s the episode title for My Dress-Up Darling! Has Marin told her friends about her crush on Gojou yet? Does her gang of gals even talk about boys? Hahaha! Keyboard smash subtitles! Marin’s tummy is not her best friend. It’s usually interrupting her flow.
Gojou had second thoughts about Marin’s cooking abilities. We saw the pictures of her meal choices, so he’s right to doubt. Naked apron! Well, no bra apron… Boys always notice, Marin. Always. Ooh. Wuvey-dovey omelet rice! Oh, good. A girl tasted her food before serving it. No purple haze in My Dress-Up Darling. Oops. Marin doesn’t know how to cook scrambled eggs. From “love” and “❤️” to “sorry.” Good boy, that Gojou. It’s not a Japanese dish to him. It’s fried rice! Still tasty. Aw. Anime gave Gojou all the feels.
Time to concentrate on Sajuna. When did Gojou get Sajuna’s measurements? Was there no in-home session? Sajuna is the primary source of backstory. Both kids use Windows 10. I see Gojou still has both Slippery Girls games installed. Sajuna can’t believe Gojou’s only made one cosplay costume before. He’s a natural! Aha. The tall girl with Sajuna in the opening credits is the younger sister. Not the little sister! The younger one. That’s like Tatsumaki and Fubuki from One Punch Man.
Called it! Shinju is in junior high, shy, and has generous proportions. She’s taller than Marin. And most likely bigger too. Next time, photoshoot training from Shinju-chan.
My Dress-Up Darling (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru) streams on Crunchyroll, VRV, and Funimation in Japanese with English subtitles and English language dubbing.
