During the Nintendo Direct on September 13, Nintendo revealed a new trailer for the New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch which unveiled The Super Crown, a power-up for Toadette which makes the character turn into a lookalike of Princess Peach, called Peachette. This caused confusion as people wondered about the implications it may have on the Super Mario universe, and this is where the Rule 63 version of Bowser known as Bowsette was born.
On September 19, talented artist @ayyk92 posted a 4-panel comic about Mario and Bowser who are rejected by Peach which results in Bowser undergoing the same transformation as Toadette into “Peachette,” turning into a human woman. This took the internet by a storm.
