November 11 has been celebrated in Japan as “Pocky Day” (and Pretz Day) ever since the Ezaki Glico company came up with this clever marketing idea in 1999, which has since gone into the Guiness Book for its success in realizing 1.8 million Twitter mentions in a 24 hour period back in 2012. While 11/11 a great excuse to munch on some delicious Japanese stick snacks, but because so many Japanese artists love to draw their favorite characters eating Pocky, it’s also a good day to celebrate amazing fanart.
