Our friends over at JAST USA teamed up with talented artist Dan Kim back in 2008 to do a web comic focusing on jokes about visual novels and eroge. This is the first of a multi-part look at these comics, with comments by me, Peter, about their history and the games shown in the comics.
First a little bit about the artist, Dan Kim. He’s a hugely talented Canadian-Korean artist with a wide range artistic styles. JAST USA liked that he has a deep appreciation for Japanese games and popular culture.
The game being parodied/referenced in this first comics is Hitomi My Stepsister, a fun title about a main character whose father remarries, which gives him a cute stepsister.
Tokimeki Check-in!, one of the first hits we published, about the erotic goings-on in a Japanese hot springs in.
Kana Imouto, one of the most moving visual novels ever written, and arguably the source of imouto fetish in Japan today.
