Peter’s Studio Ghibli Fanart Selection
J-List has been selling anime products for a long time, and from the beginning, we’ve always carried every single My Neighbor Totoro and Studio Ghibli product we could stock, mainly because I’m such a hopeless fanboy. (My one and only cosplay was Totoro way back in 1989, sadly before anyone know what a Totoro was.) Since the works Hayao Miyazaki are special to me, here’s a post of some nice fanart images you might like.
It’s hard to pick a favorite Ghibli film. I love the structure and epic story of Laputa — which Spielberg supposedly called “the best adventure story every told” — though Spirited Away is hard to beat for overall awesomeness. As I get older, I appreciate the analog side of animation more, and Kiki’s Delivery Service, likely the last major Miyazaki film made without computer assistance, is a beautiful thing to see. (The English version is excellent, too, since it features the final performance of Phil Hartman.) Porco Rosso feels like the “purest” Ghibli film, and I gather it’s Miyazaki’s favorite. Of course, don’t forget the Castle of Cagliostro, another film that I consider to be nearly perfect. (J-List sells all the limited Blu-rays from Japan, which happily come with full English subtitles.)

Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to visit J-List’s Studio Ghibli product page! We have a few of the 2017 calendar still in stock, which are the best things ever for a Ghibli fan since all the illustrations are original and new every year, and potentially add to the canon of the films they’re from.
