It’s been a year since Reze exploded onto the silver screen in Chainsaw Man: The Movie — Reze Arc, taking the downtrodden Denji (and an unsuspecting audience) on an emotional roller coaster. Unlike Denji, whose suffering remains unsettlingly relatable, Chainsaw Man fans can find joy in Reze’s sexy, talented cosplay.
Join us on the J-List Blog today as we defuse the smoking-hot bombshell and talk about the very best Reze cosplay. Spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched Chainsaw Man: The Movie — Reze Arc yet!

Who (Or What) Is Reze?
The titular antagonist of the Bomb Girl arc, which studio MAPPA adapted into the Reze Arc movie, Reze is a hybrid Devil-human created by the USSR. If you’re confused about the timeline, don’t worry — Chainsaw Man takes place in an alternate 1997. The USSR still exists, with the Cold War still ongoing. Real history diverged from ours, particularly around World War II. We won’t spoil exactly how or why — the anime’s (eventual) Season 2 should cover that.
As a living weapon, Reze was sent to Japan to steal Denji’s heart, literally. However, the metaphorical heart-stealing hurts poor Denji the most.

Reze Cosplay: The Landmine Girl Steals Our Hearts
What makes Reze such a fascinating character? Perhaps it’s the duplicity of her actions. Although she clearly lies and deceives Denji to get closer to his heart (technically, Pochita/Chainsaw Man’s heart), she seems genuine about running away with him. She teaches Denji how to swim and happily explores a school with him, since they both had tragic childhoods.

Why We Love Reze Cosplay
Even though Reze breaks Denji’s heart, we can’t help but love her, particularly her character design. In human form, she’s coquettish and playful, able to blush on demand and laugh at all of Denji’s jokes, no matter how terrible. As the Bomb Devil, she has a unique appearance seemingly modeled after the “Fat Man” nuclear bomb, and combat prowess that takes a team effort to overcome.
In the end, Reze really did teach Denji a lesson, although not the one he understood. Denji sank into a deep depression following Reze’s betrayal. Still, because of this, Denji becomes far more cautious around other characters, particularly in the second part of the series (the “Academy Saga”).
