Mera x Death: First Love Beneath the Glass Sun
Six years after a massive explosion miraculously leaves no fatalities, a mysterious sphere called the Glass Sun remains suspended above the city of Ouma. That’s the setting of Mera x Death, where Mera Kagari lives an uneventful, emotionally disconnected life until Thirteen appears on his birthday and adds some color to his world.
The Mera x Death trailer begins with Thirteen inviting Mera Kagari on a date, then turns that sweet setup into something considerably more ominous. Strange incidents are spreading across Ouma, and the girl offering him his first taste of romance may also be leading him toward danger.
Cast and Staff Behind the New Anime
Mera x Death introduces Mera Kagari as an introverted but sincere high schooler prone to negative imaginings. Thirteen is a mysterious girl with a fondness for spicy food. Their Japanese voice actors have not yet been announced.
Mera x Death has assembled its supernatural production team:
- Animation production: Qzil.la and studio keel
- Director: Kenta Kushiya
- Series composition and scripts: Daisuke Oohigashi
- Character design: Tadashi Sakazaki
- Music: Masaru Yokoyama, Kana Hashiguchi, and Natsuki Hamada
What the Monster Strike Connection Means
Monster Strike publisher MIXI places Mera x Death within the mobile game’s larger universe. However, the anime tells an original story centered on Mera Kagari and Thirteen. The announced plot focuses on them and the city of Ouma rather than a named game quest or previously identified playable character.
That distinction may make Mera x Death especially welcoming to newcomers. No direct-sequel status or corresponding game event has been announced, meaning viewers can approach its supernatural romance on its own terms. The date-to-danger premise and Glass Sun mystery, not prior knowledge of the Monster Strike game, provide the immediate reasons to watch.
All these details surfaced during MONST FREAK 2026, Monster Strike’s annual convention, held online September 26–27, 2026.
While we wait to see whether Thirteen’s dangerous date earns her a figure, browse J-List’s anime figure category. Your shelf may survive. Your wallet is another story.
Where to Watch Mera x Death
Mera x Death premieres on Japanese TV stations on January 5, 2027. Further broadcast details will follow, and streaming information has not been announced.
A Killer First Impression: The trailer’s pivot from an awkward first date to supernatural danger gives this Winter 2027 premiere a sharp identity, while the Glass Sun mystery and cautious franchise connection make it an accessible prospect.
