To me, the best part of recommending anime art books to J-List readers is the potential to introduce them to new artists. I always wonder if somewhere there’s an otaku showing off something they purchased because I recommended it. That scenario always fills me with joy. Today, I’d like to break from the usual multi-title recommendation and highlight an individual anime art book — DDal’s Kuroi Book.
Great news: J-List has started a new sale, giving you 18% off all DVDs, Blu-rays, and Nintendo Switch games. That means an instant 18% off all imported anime Blu-rays, sexy live-action JAV titles, hentai anime, and region-free anime games for your Nintendo Switch! Browse all sale products now!

Kuroi Book and The World of DDal
I’m always amazed by how certain artists create such distinctive feelings in their work. I’m woefully ignorant about art, so I can’t say whether that feeling comes from an artist’s imagination or skill. Maybe it’s a combination of both, or maybe it’s their feelings permeating their work. Either way, when it comes to abstract topics like art, my words often fail me. But even though I struggle to describe an artist’s elegance with my limited vocabulary, I know my infantile attempt is enough when I call something distinctive. And elegantly distinctive is the best way to describe Kuroi Book.
While I can name other artists with a refined style, DDal’s illustrations have a distinct softness. DDal’s art looks as though he captured the delicate warmth of an early spring day. Whether it’s an illustration that depicts horniness, a lost succubus, or a birdwatcher’s joy, they all have a tender coziness. But most of all, they leave you wanting more.

A few illustrations in Kuroi Book feature a succubus. But since there’s no written story accompanying the illustrations, your imagination fills in the gaps. And that’s worthy of praise. Anything that stokes your creativity and imagination is something worth loving.
I could pontificate about DDal’s work and Kuroi Book, but this isn’t quite a review. Anyhow, head over to the J-List store and get a copy of this 44-page art book — it’s only $32, and Kashou thinks that’s a steal. If you’re in the mood for something hornier, check out The Art of NLCH, like Kuroi Book — it’s a career-spanning illustration collection. But it’s way hornier and more uncensored! Ja ne!
