Another isekai series follows a protagonist who starts their adventure in a sort of “hard mode.” We’ve seen a few isekai series where the protagonist gets so-called weak skills and must overcome that handicap to succeed. Another interesting point — and you’ll never believe this — the protagonist’s friends don’t immediately turn on him for being weak! Gosh, such a breath of fresh air. We need more of Full Clearing Another World Under a Goddess with Zero Believers (Shinja Zero no Megami-sama to Hajimeru Isekai Koryaku). I’m tired of all the betrayal series.

Our new isekai protagonist, his new goddess, and his first new friend are as follows:
- Makoto Takatsuki — Sohei Horikane (Sho from Isekai de Cheat Skill wo Te ni Shita Ore wa, Genjitsu Sekai wo mo Musou Suru: Level Up wa Jinsei wo Kaeta). The gamer has a mind for adventure.
- Noah Titan — Ikumi Hasegawa (Ciel from Tsukihime). Noah is an ancient goddess who has fallen out of favor.
- Lucy J. Walker — Yukina Shuto (Haru Urara from Umamusume: Pretty Derby). Lucy is an elven mage and Makoto’s first otherworldly comrade.
Makoto has been traversing another world with a goddess since October 11th, 2026. Studio Hornets is producing the anime adaptation, with Riki Fukushima directing. Toko Machida writes the series, Noriko Ito designs the characters, and AstroNoteS provides the music. 310 is performing the opening theme song “Mirai no Ashiato,” and Suupeas is performing the ending theme song “Fall in Dream.”

From its face, this looks like one of the more casual isekai series. No backstabbing from the start, since the friends are actually friends. Even the higher-ups from the new world don’t treat the weak protagonist poorly. They’ll brush Makoto off for his beginner water magic, Clear Mind, and RPG Skill abilities. But they haven’t done anything wrong to him. That’s not to say we don’t get any darker elements. Makoto and his classmates were buried alive in a bus under a mountain of snow, and some of those classmates with powerful skills are missing or deceased (again).
I’m curious to see how this gamer uses his skills. Clear Mind keeps him calm, and RPG Skill turns the world and his perspective into a video game. He has some control over water and ice with his beginner water magic. Any gamer can make proper use of those abilities, and he’s going to get some divine assistance. Noah Titan seems to be more down-to-earth than our other favorite party member, goddess Aqua. Let’s see if he gets the harem ending.

Makoto Takatsuki is a normal high school student and a hardcore RPG player. However, “normal” goes out the window when his whole class is involved in a bus crash and whisked away to another world! Powerful gods rule this strange new land of magic and monsters, and every newcomer is blessed with strong stats and unique skills. Well, not quite. Makoto’s stats turn out to be pathetic, and his skills are super weak compared to his classmates’…he’s even stuck as an apprentice mage. Worse still, he’s given only ten years to live!
Luckily, Makoto soon meets a minor goddess named Noah, who appears in Makoto’s dreams and asks him to become her first believer. With the help of Noah’s blessings and a divine weapon, Makoto seeks to become strong enough to rescue his goddess from the dungeon where she’s been trapped. By training hard and using his weak skills in unorthodox ways, Makoto proves that, even when playing on hardcore difficulty, an RPG player always makes it to the end!
Isle Osaki released the original Another World Under a Goddess with Zero Believers novel series on the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro on May 9th, 2018. Tam-U provided art for the light novel adaptation, which debuted on March 25th, 2019. Overlap published fourteen volumes in the Overlap Bunko imprint. Hakuto Shitori provided art for the manga adaptation, which debuted on April 24th, 2020. Overlap published eleven volumes in Comic Gardo.
