Have you ever looked around your garage for the leaf blower you loaned your neighbor years ago? How would he react if you asked for it back? The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life (Tsuihou Sareta Cheat Fuyo Majutsushi wa Kimama na Second Life wo Ouka Suru) runs that borrowed-tool scenario through a harem fantasy-comedy filter on October 6, 2026.
It’s a very special time for us at J-List, because 30 years ago this week, we started the first anime and hentai shop selling to fans around the world. Your Friendly Neighborhood Enchanter Wants His Magic Tools Back
Rein Garland works as an enchanter, a support-role mage who strengthens weapons and armor by assigning enhancement points. After his guild dismisses him, Rein reclaims the points he loaned its members and transfers them into a cheap copper sword and ordinary clothing. The mage packed up, and the guild’s shiny riding mower became a lawn ornament.
Assigning enhancement points gives someone their benefits while Rein keeps ownership. That’s the point when The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage starts a hero’s journey in his second lease on life. Rein could recall every point whenever he chose. A borrowed rake still bears its owner’s name on the handle, and he grabbed his on the way out!
The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Builds a New Party and Production Team

Rein’s reclaimable enhancements give his second life its power source. The core cast gives The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage a focused ensemble for the adventures that follow his guild exit:
- Rein Garland — (Daiki Yamashita) A kind enchanter holding the guild’s magical toolshed keys.
- Lily Flambert — (Lynn, Sylpha from Reincarnated as the 7th Prince) An S-rank prodigy carrying a heavy past and criminally poor fashion sense.
- Margaret Ells — (Yoshino Aoyama) A sarcastic B-rank adventurer with a personal grudge against Lily.
- Mirabelle — (Miyu Tomita, Elsa from Sasaki and Peeps) A pocket-sized assassin facing a very large identity crisis.
- Elsie Zra — (Megumi Han, Noko Shikanoko from Shikanoko nokonoko Koshitantan) The chaos-wrangling guild master of Blue Crystal, Rein’s new guild.
- Nina — (Konomi Kohara, Roxy Migurdia from Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) Blue Crystal’s sensible receptionist and heroic-nonsense witness.
Bringing that new party and its slapstick chemistry to the screen falls to the Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage production team:
- Animation production — P.A.WORKS
- Production — Shochiku
- Director — Shuu Honma
- Series composition — Youko Yonaiyama
- Character design — Yuito Kiyosawa
- Music — Arisa Okehazama
- Opening theme — “Ember Torch” by sumika
The anime follows Gyomuyomochi’s manga adaptation of Asa Rokushima’s original web novel.
Trading the Guild’s Rake for a Harem Garden Party

That combination of an expelled enchanter and a new adventuring home gives The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage a support-skill blueprint shared by the recent Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None. Both stories follow expelled enchanters who join new organizations after their former parties undervalue their work. Jack-of-All-Trades develops that comeback as a dungeon-focused fantasy adventure. The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage takes the comic garden path, using its new guild and female ensemble to cultivate harem comedy with louder slapstick.

Fall 2026 supplies the closer premise match through Magic Repo Man. Yes. Both stories came from “that Narou site.” Lent repossesses the MP he loaned his former party, with interest and fairy-assisted collection. Rein recalls enhancement points and applies them to ordinary gear. P.A.WORKS gives The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage the more polished version of this shared repossession hook. Two fantasy parties had borrowed the power tools and fired the neighbors who owned them. One hero sends a debt collector to the backyard shed, while the other empties it himself.
Where to Watch The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage

The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage premieres Tuesday, October 6, at 24:00 JST on TV Tokyo’s six-station network. ABEMA and d Anime Store begin streaming on October 7 at 00:30 JST. AT-X follows on October 8.
Crunchyroll begins streaming the series on October 6.
Borrower’s reckoning: The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage has one of Fall 2026’s clearest fantasy-comedy hooks. The loan mechanic gives familiar party-expulsion material a satisfying snap, while the manga’s slapstick ensemble supplies strong comic potential. P.A.WORKS’s premium presentation makes this an easy recommendation for viewers who enjoy support-skill power fantasies with harem energy and a shed full of unreturned tools.
