Life’s been blessing us with SSR-level anime adaptation announcements lately, and the causes for celebration keep on coming! It’s official, everyone’s favorite rom-com, Rent-a-Girlfriend, is getting a sixth season! While we don’t know the premiere date for the upcoming Kanojo Okarishimasu season, we do know that it will adapt the manga’s Cohabitation Arc. We also know that Reiji Miyajima’s bank account is looking really comfy at the moment.

Rent-a-Girlfriend Deets
Reiji “the GOAT” Miyajima authors and illustrates the Rent-a-Girlfriend manga. Weekly Shonen Magazine (Kodansha) has serialized the harem-esque rom-com since July 2017. Since then, Kodansha has bundled the manga into a mind-boggling 46 volumes. And I’m so confident that all those volumes will get adapted that I’d bet one of those sparkly new FAKKU doujins.
In 2020, Reiji-san launched a spin-off manga, Rent-A-(Really Shy!)-Girlfriend via Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket. Kodansha USA publishes the English version of both manga. TMS Entertainment has adapted Rent-a-Girlfriend into five TV anime seasons, all of which are available on Crunchyroll.
Synopsis
Most people have had a breakup that was scarring. But where the sensible among us turn to the bottle or a tub of ice cream and the director’s cut of Lord of the Rings, Kazuya Kinoshita turned to compensated dating. (Which is a vivid reminder that Japan is living in the 22nd century.) Yet despite his first rental date with a girl named Chizuru being the epitome of perfection, Kazuya feels displeased. To him, the experience was so perfect it was as fake as an Alibaba anime figure. So, he leaves a negative review on the beautiful Chizuru’s profile. However, how could he have known that an unprompted act of pettiness would end up trapping him and Chizuru in a prolonged pretend relationship? But the more the two pretend to love each other, the more actual love wiggles its way into their lives.
