Koyuki’s chilly demeanor has led many to distance themselves from her. People call her “the queen” because of her angry expressions and refuse to go near her. Though she is content with her isolation, she still enjoys companionship and wonders what aspect keeps her peers away from her. We’ll see if she can make a third or fourth friend when The Ramparts of Ice (Koori no Jyoheki) premieres sometime in April 2026.
Kocha Agasawa released the original The Ramparts of Ice manga series between January 10th, 2020, and April 28th, 2022. Shueisha published all fourteen volumes in their Jump Comics imprint.
The Ramparts of Ice Cast
The ice queen, her old friend, and a potential new friend are as follows:
- Koyuki Hikawa — Anna Nagase (Boxers, Isabella from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners). A girl with a chilly demeanor.
- Miki Azumi — Fuka Izumi (Utena Hiiragi/Magia Baiser from Gushing Over Magical Girls). Koyuki’s friend, who hides her gruff and relaxed demeanor.
- Minato Amamiya — Shoya Chiba (Yu from Fire Force). A jovial boy who is perceptive of Koyuki’s self-imposed wall.

Friendship Scales The Ramparts of Ice
Unpleasant middle school experiences have led Koyuki Hikawa to form a “wall” around herself. She doesn’t want to deal with people making “jokes” at her expense anymore. Koyuki’s efforts paid off, and now everyone, except for her one friend, leaves her alone at all times. Her cool and almost angry exterior intimidates those around her. Only her friend and school idol, Miki Azumi, knows her true self. Miki knows what it’s like to feel pressure from her fellow students.
Minato Amamiya ran into Koyuki purely by chance while she was trying to form a smile. He treated her as casually as he would anyone else, which simply confused her. Minato felt sympathy for her as he slowly came to understand how she had isolated herself from others. He has experience helping people get out of their shells, and he starts to think about her even more.
