Imagine your name is Tatsuji. You’ve lived a short life in a Japanese town and, in those length-challenged years, asked out 100 girls. All of which have told you to jump off a bridge. To offer emotional support (if you can call it that), your five hot and highly sexually active friends invite you to karaoke. While they try to lift your spirits, you sit there and lament for the foreseeable future that your balls will be as blue as a cloudless summer sky. So, you let the tears roll and fully embrace that you’re #foreveralone.
And after you reach that rocky bottom, you decide it’s not enough. You gotta be like the dwarves of Moria and dig deeper. Then, you ask all the hotties around you if they bang, and when they answer, you freak out, à la Bocchi. But discontented with your lot in life, you let out your emo side and hurt yourself more by asking all those hotties what it’s like to shag. And when they answer, you fully embrace your maiden-less behavior and start to fap in front of all of them.
At that point, you realize you might as well ask for some help in your one-on-one play. Accordingly, the girls around you eventually agree. Have you ever asked yourself why even messed-up doujins get legal leeway in some of the most conservative countries? It comes down to artistic merit. If something perverted has no value other than to stimulate, it’s smut and classified as obscene. But, if that material has entertainment value equal to or greater than its ability to arouse, it’s classified as entertainment. Of course, there’s nuance, which varies by country. But that’s the easiest way to explain this. With topics ranging from NTR to barebacking multiple people, it’s safe to say that some people will find issues with Pity Party in My Pants. However, it’s far from obscene. It’s outright hilarious.
The “sigma” (spelled idiot) males in our midst might find offense in pity shags. To them, I say, “Bollocks!” Pity shags are the best. First-date shags try to impress you. But that’s that, and this is this. And Pity Party in My Pants is a laugh-inducing story about a guy who realizes that should he play the desperate and unloved virgin card, he’ll get laid. It might sound unbelievable, but if you act like a victim and have enough charisma, people will go out of their way to make you happy.
But What About The Art?
Doujins can get away with less-than-ideal art, which is truly lamentable. Society should legally require you to give awe-inspiring artwork whenever someone rubs one out while looking at your work. If you disagree, you’re the reason AI is taking our jobs (“took ur job … tuk ur jub … rooster crowing”). Fortunately, that’s not the case here. Not only is Pity Part in My Pants’s art style warm and expressive, but it also fits the story. Often, a doujin’s art can’t keep pace with the story. The subtle body language and little background nuances don’t move as fast as they should. Here, they’re perfectly paced, and that’s worthy of applause.
