Lightning Warrior Raidy (Ikazuchi no Senshi Raidi) is a classic eroge that has withstood the test of time. If you like magical lesbians navigating a dungeon with classic RPG mechanics, this game series is tailor-made for you. Raidy has the task of recovering the women of Sadd from the monster girls who captured them. Can she complete her mission, or will she be in the thrall of the sexy monster girls who call the Cubust Tower home? Let’s find out.
Lightning Warrior Raidy Strikes First
Raidy is a traveling swordswoman who plies her skill around the continent of Else. Her skills with the blade are second to none, but her ability to command lightning has made her truly famous. Her travels took Raidy to the quaint town of Sadd to resupply for her journey. There were few people to welcome her, however. Only the elderly villagers were there to tell her of their plight. The inhabitants of Cubust Tower spirited all of the women away. The men launched an effort to save them, but they were never seen again. All that remained of the village were the aged and infirm.
Raidy took it upon herself to venture out to Cubust Tower to rescue as many people as possible. The monster girls within are considerably powerful, and their dungeon is nothing to scoff at. In a mission where defeat means being at the mercy of lesbian monster girls, Raidy must keep her wits about her and turn the tables on the domineering girls waiting for her.
Raidy Navigates the Dungeon
As this is a dungeon crawler, Raidy should expect to navigate a dungeon with many twists and turns. Players experience the game in a first-person perspective within a 3D field. The graphics, though simple, have held up remarkably well since the release of Lightning Warrior Raidy in 2008. The map is blank at first, which requires players to find the floor maps. These appear in seemingly empty rooms, so players should bump into every “empty room” wall to find the chest. There are also keys to find that open locked doors for rooms containing powerful equipment.
Danger lurks behind every turn as monster girls appear at random to attack Raidy. She’ll start out by fighting wererats, werebats, and even weretigers. As dangerous as they are, these monster girls are also visually cute. Their clothes will get torn upon their defeat, which offers a brief reward for brave warrior girls. Battles are turn-based in this game. Players can choose an attack, defend, use a potion, run, or use magic action. Raidy will gain experience points for each victory, allowing her to level up and become stronger.
Raidy’s Actions and Consequences
It’s most important to talk to everyone possible and check all dialogue options have been expended until the text repeats. There’s a chance that Raidy can learn a vital secret. In my playthrough, I kept talking to a prisoner until she mentioned that the werewolf appeared to weaken when the prisoner stepped on her tail. This played into the first boss battle, where Raidy targeted Fonfon’s tail and won the match. If Raidy loses, she’ll be tied up and at Fonfon’s mercy.
The Lovely Ladies of Raidy
Kazuma Muramasa, the legendary artist of impeccable taste and great talent, has graced the Lightning Warrior Raidy games with his art. There’s a variety of girls, from short pettanko girls to tall oppai girls. The illustrations are absolutely smooth and detailed. The girls have dynamic poses, and their emotions show clearly on their cute faces. It’s also very nice to see these girls start with smug faces and end up with tears in their eyes as they lie defeated.
Yuri is the name of the game. Girls loving girls, whether one or more, are there by choice. Whenever a guy is involved, he doesn’t even have much detail about his features. Yes, cute girls doing not-so-cute things is the main point, and Muramasa has done good by this eroge.
Raidy’s Lovely Voice
Lightning Warrior Raidy has stellar audio work. Every girl — including the nameless captured girls — has a voice actress breathing life and emotion into her. Each actress sounds like they fit the character. Likewise, the music and sound effects are top-tier. There’s an air of nostalgia as one starts the game to hear music from a bygone day of quality eroge.
Conclusion
Lightning Warrior Raidy is an incredibly well-made game. It has held up perfectly with fun gameplay and cultured art. Players can get lost in the dungeon if they’re not keeping track of where they’re going, specifically if they haven’t found the floor map yet. The difficulty also spikes up when moving from one floor to another. It’s the nature of the game. The lewd moments are a big part of it, but Raidy makes you work for those lewd moments. You make the right choices, find items and equipment, and grind out enough levels, and those monster girls will become putty in your hands.
