The Ultimate Himopan Collection 2018–2020, a J18 Doujinshi Review

Do you love shimapan (striped panties)? How about himopan (string panties)? Well J18 Publishing brings us The Ultimate Himopan Collection 2018-2020 for the himopan fan like you. Yes, shimapan’s cousin fetish; himopan! The hint of a bow tied at the hip, the dangling vulnerability of a knot that could part with a tug, and bare flesh below a thin cover of fabric all have their appeal. This collection demonstrates a wide variety of daily scenarios in which himopan are worn by cute girls, and the unique qualities of such a vulnerable choice in underwear. The Ultimate Himopan Collection is also surprisingly modest, firmly planted in the ecchi category.

Cute Girls Doing Cute Things

There’s no plot in The Ultimate Himopan Collection because it’s not a traditional manga, but a collection of independent still images with the occasional two-panel progression. Despite the lack of plot it still tells stories, with one sentence of flavor text attached to each artwork. For people who love the “cute girls doing cute things” genre, The Ultimate Himopan Collection is perfect for you, with surprisingly lighthearted moments, cute friendships — and maybe rivalries?

The Art of the Unseen

The art is cutesy and moe, with lots of mild cringe and little innocent mishaps intermixed with outright lewd bait. The titular underwear is often teased before being shown but the ecchi drips from each character design. Completely colorized, and with lots of little movement notations, the quality is enjoyable. The little wrinkles and folds of stretched white shirts look most impressive. “Strained white shirts with a hint of bra” collection when?

Cutie Conclusion

Surprisingly wholesome, but with a ton of content for himopan fans to enjoy, The Ultimate Himopan Collection 2018-2020 is available to buy from J-List’s website now.
