Clearly, Studio ZyX knows that the classics never die, so it elected to remaster Amorous Professor Cherry for the modern day. It was released on March 3rd, 2023. There will always be a fan base who love to see hot teachers cross certain boundaries with their students, so they made the right call, and we all benefit from it.
A Forbidden Love Story of a Student and His Teacher
Amorous Professor Cherry (Binetsu Kyoushi Cherry, or Slight Fever Teacher Chieri) has a time-honored story of a student and his teacher crossing certain boundaries. Kouta Koikawa has eyes only for her social studies teacher Chieri Hase. She’s beautiful, gifted with a flawless body and great intelligence, but with a charming side, such as her tendency to get flustered about various things, and she’s generally clumsy.
For eroge readers who like to get into the more interesting stuff sooner, the game starts with a daydream sequence, where Chieri is stripping for Kouta right in the classroom. He clearly has a crush on his teacher, and it’ll take the right moment between them to act upon it.
Of course, it’s not simply a “straight to smut” story, as the characters are well-written and fleshed out. There’s more to Chieri than just her cup size. She has her own issues in love, which prevents her from seeing Kouta as a romantic option beyond the fact that he’s her student. The other characters are likewise given their own times to shine in the spotlight, making choices more difficult. Players should make sure to have plenty of save files handy.
Besides the lovely Chieri, Kouta has two other romance options: his female friend Kiyoka, who isn’t as physically well-rounded as Chieri, but she has cute pink twintails, who may be a tsundere, and Mamiko, Chieri’s friend and fellow teacher, who is entirely more forward in her desires. These three girls can be romance options for Kouta, but which girl depends on the player’s choices.
Although the game’s title and story want to gently push the player toward Chieri and enjoy that great student x teacher romance, the storylines that follow Kiyoka and Mamiko are done just as well. Multiple playthroughs can be enjoyed.
Remastered Art from Two Familiar Artists
ZyX promised “Modern HD art,” and they delivered. If someone has read enough visual novels, they have definitely come across artwork from Mutou Keiji and Yamane Masahiro. Their style is unique and almost iconic for visual novel enthusiasts. Seeing it brings a sense of nostalgia, and their work on Amorous Professor Cherry has never looked better.
The characters’ expressions are especially well done. Chieri can go from being a prim and proper teacher to a woman seeking fun with her lover. The taboo nature of student x teacher is perfectly captured in the art. The setting, the characters, everything is set up perfectly.
Amorous Professor Cherry offers both sides favor in the battle between plot (big boobs) and justice (small boobs). Chieri and Mamiko stand for the PLOT, and Kiyoka has JUSTICE on her side. Players can choose whomever they wish and fill out the gallery to have repeat performances.
Visual Novel Audio Remastered
Maybe it’s just me, but the audio sounded better in the remastered version of Amorous Professor Cherry. JAST USA didn’t mention any improvements for audio. But when I booted up the classic version, the audio was pretty loud. Playing the remastered version, and the default level was perfectly fine. Again, it could have just been me, so other people might have had a different experience.
All the characters, including Kouta’s male friend Shigeaki, are voiced, and the casting is superb. The audio quality is perfect, and the women sound like they’re speaking right into your ears, so there might be an element of ASMR. Either that or they’re just that good at their jobs. Kouta isn’t voiced at all. It was likely a creative decision that would let players insert themselves into the character.
Also, the background music and sound effects, such as the end-of-period bell, are well done. The music fits the tone and location, such as the upbeat theme that plays during class. The sex scenes really shine with upgraded audio and talented actresses, too.
Gameplay and Difficult Choices
As this is a visual novel and eroge with multiple endings, every choice matters. As previously stated, three possible romantic options are available: the titular teacher, Chieri, her college friend and fellow teacher, Mamiko, and Kouta’s friend Kiyoka. Each girl is great, and they have distinct charms that might make choosing between them difficult. As stated before, players should make multiple save files to make those decisions easier.
The remastered version made playing the game a bit easier, too. The user interface was updated to be in line with modern visual novels. For those who want to use the spacebar to advance the text, for whatever reason, you can. Before, you needed to click the screen to move the words forward, and the spacebar would hide the text bar. The remastered version lets you hide the text bar, for whatever reason, with the “H” key, as usual.
Conclusion
Amorous Professor Cherry is a school-life romance story, so fans of that genre will have plenty to enjoy from the first minute. While the sex scenes are plentifully important, a real romance story is woven through the game, and it’s not there just as a buffer between the intimate scenes. It’s also entirely uncensored, so if you are looking for a good time, there are no mosaics to get in the way. The choices have real consequences too, so when they come up, players might have to seriously consider who they want to pursue, even with multiple save files. There’s no “wrong” decision for these three ladies.
The remastering work is flawless, but there’s an undeniable charm for the original version, too. If you want to play the modern update or the classic version just for extra nostalgia, you’ll have fun with this eroge. It’s time to be “hot for teacher,” or “hot for the teacher’s friend,” or it’s time to show that cute friend what you learned about in those lewd novels you read during class.
