After a much-hyped announcement some time ago, the PV and release date for Hell’s Paradise has been released, giving fans a good look at this adaptation. There’s plenty of action and monsters that need slaying, and a ninja who simply wants to get back home to see his lovely wife, from whom his eyes never stray despite some enticing ladies hanging around him.
The official Hell’s Paradise Twitter account recently released a key art to promote the series, displaying the main cast in an action pose.
There is also an official English Twitter account for Western fans to follow.
The trailer itself should have fans of the series assured that studio MAPPA is doing its best to adhere to the style seen in the Hell’s Paradise original manga. There’s plenty of violence on display here, so please bear that in mind as you hit ‘play’.
Hell’s Paradise is set to begin streaming in April 2023, and Western viewers can view the series on Crunchyroll’s streaming platform. In addition to the neat key visual and trailer, the cast list was also released, and we can confirm that Gabimaru will be voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi and Yumiri Hanamori will provide the voice of Yamada Asaemon Sagiri.
Yuji Kaku originally created Hell’s Paradise, which is also called Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku or simply as Jigokuraku in Japan. It was first published back on January 22nd, 2018 when the manga series he both wrote and illustrated appeared on Shonen Jump+. The series concluded on January 25th, 2021, and totals 13 tankōbon volumes. Shueisha currently holds the publishing writes, and Viz Media has licensed the manga series for the West.
Hell’s Paradise follows Gabimaru the Hollow, a powerful ninja from Iwagakure, who is sentenced to be executed. His superhuman body saves him with each attempt, so his executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri offers him a chance to be pardoned if he travels with her to Shinsenkyo — a mysterious island where none have returned that is located southwest of the Ryukyu Kingdom — to locate the elixir of life. Gabimaru agrees, as he simply wishes to return home to be with his loving wife Yui.
