Sakaki plans a summer trip to the beach for Uzaki and friends, which includes a nighttime test of courage.
Episode 6 – “Summer! The Beach! I Want to Test My Courage!”
Hmm.
Uzaki-chan gave us the beach episode we needed and deserved! In keeping with how wholesome and innocent Uzaki is herself, there was no lascivious oil rubbing or leering at her epic proportions. Instead, we got grade school style flirting and one accident involving a melon. This is Uzaki-chan we’re watching, so naturally, there was going to be a melon joke at some point. Uzaki’s swimsuit matches the one in her poster from the September Megami Magazine (her SUGOI DEKAI figure and swimsuit figure match the illustrations from September’s Dengeki G’s Magazine). Ami got a close look at that swimsuit struggling to cover Uzaki’s ample blessings and she could only pronounce them weapons-grade material.
Speaking of Ami, she showed us what form her kind of “watching over” the pairing of Sakurai and Uzaki takes. It doesn’t look all that different than Sakaki’s “meddling.” Sakaki did create an environment for things to happen, like suggesting the beach trip, planning an itinerary, and handling the lodgings, so if he wants to call that meddling, he’s welcome to it. Ami told Sakurai to pay Uzaki-chan a compliment and act like a boyfriend, so beach boys don’t hit on her. That sounds more like meddling instead of watching over and encouraging from afar.
Heh.
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! It’s the Uzaki-chan beach episode! Ami is here with Sakaki too. She has a nice top on. Sakaki went straight to the watermelons. Good lad. Oh, it’s a flashforward. Thanks, Master Asai, for making us wait until we get back to Uzaki and her watermelons.
Ah. Uzaki got a part-time job at Asai’s café, just to bother Sakurai. Oh, and get money for summer vacation. Can Master Asai afford to have three workers scheduled for the same shifts? Ami will want to be there to “watch over” them too. Does the Asia Café have a busy period right before the university’s summer break? Master Asai said out loud he hired Uzaki because he thought it would be fun. Don’t let the cat out of the bag, Master! Oh, that’s not a suggestive line at all. Teach her, Sakurai. Teach her all the things.
Boring! This is job training without jokes. Where are the jokes? Even Uzaki-chan wants jokes! Master Asai wants jokes too! Oh man. Sakurai is too easy to provoke. Ha! Ami and her dad already trained her. They just wanted to see what Sakurai would do. He’s totally their plaything.
This won’t do. Uzaki will not allow Sakurai to hole up in his apartment playing a new video game all summer break. He does that anyway, so why not something new? Uzaki-chan wants Sakurai to go to the beach or the pool. So do Master Asai and Ami! Uh, how exactly is Sakurai keeping so fit if he hasn’t done any swimming since he came to university? Ami sees a meddler. Sakaki heard Uzaki works at the café now and wanted to enjoy the show, er, see how she’s doing.
And we’re back to the beach. Thank you, Sakaki. Ami can’t get accustomed to those honking huge breasts Uzaki has. Ami is all of us in the presence of Uzaki-chan’s “weapons.” The music is hilarious, like Ami just saw a supernatural monster in an occult mystery. Ami is a fine-looking woman too, but compared to Uzaki… Whoa. Sakurai is a fast swimmer. He says he hasn’t been swimming, but he must be doing something to keep his fitness up.
Ami is meddling. She tells Sakurai not to leave Uzaki-chan alone on the beach or someone will hit on her. Haha! She also told him to give Uzaki swimsuit compliments, but she liked it too much when he started complimenting her! Hohoho. Sakurai and Uzaki are like third graders. He compliments her, she smacks him. But she’s giddy!
Alrighty, then. Time for messing with melons. Watermelon splitting, that is. Har. Uzaki confuses Sakurai with button combos. Now we’re messing with melons for real! Uzaki’s melons! Why does Sakurai always go straight to the jellyfish when he’s blindfolded and honking Uzaki-chan’s boob? Kuso Cat made it to the beach. Hee hee. Ami said Sakurai grabbed the melon. He sure did! Sakurai’s lucky lecher power activates when he can’t see. Good to know. Aw. Bikini beach time is over. Time for test-of-courage shenanigans. Uzaki-chan claims she is not pouty, as she pouts. She tried to convince Sakurai he was feeling the watermelon the whole time, but he’s not so sure.
Ah. Sakaki’s family is rich, so they have a nearby summer house. We should have figured that when he took off for Okinawa for a month. Ha. Sakurai and Uzaki call modern light switches, intercoms, and Western door fixtures “rich people” things. I suppose this is meddling — stocking a fridge with salad and barbecue meat. Sakaki is just being a good host and inviting his friends on trips. This is a normal college thing.
Now, this is absolutely meddling. Maneuvering a guy and a girl into a pair for a test of courage is a staple of high school romantic comedies. Sakurai uses his phone flash for a flashlight. Uh oh. Sakurai has trouble with scary things. He’s catatonic. That’s a nice twist on making the girl go “kyaa!” and cuddling with the guy. Sakurai doesn’t look like the cuddling type. Sakaki is correct. It’s good to be honest but he should not have announced his weakness in front of a certain smug short stack looking for revenge. Sakaki admits to Ami that instead of meddling, he tried to set the right environment for things to happen so Sakurai could have a fun college life. He also has other reasons, which Ami picked up on. Wow. Sakurai is a true scaredy-cat.
All that stress in the dark forest exhausted Sakurai. Oops. Uzaki tried to comfort him a little and he turned her into his body pillow. We need some Uzaki-chan body pillows! Uzaki is a given, but throw in Sakurai and Ami for variety. It’s a good thing Uzaki isn’t smothering Sakurai. She’s giving him the full mommy nursing play experience here. Kuso Cat freaks out at Uzaki being tender to Sakurai.
In the morning, Sakurai says he slept great. Uzaki tells him he should get a body pillow. Eh? Kakyoin’s soul? Is Ami a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fan? Those two missed out on another scene of relationship progress.
Next time, it looks like Uzaki reaches the legal drinking age. She was already legal in another sense, you pervs.
