The Spring 2021 anime season is winding down, and it’s time to say goodbye to all the characters that made the past three months magical for all of us as fans. I asked J-List customers to share their favorite “seasonal waifus” and got lots of great suggestions. Let’s see who they picked for the best 2D waifu of the current anime season!

Who Was the Best 2D Waifu from the Current Anime Season? J-List Customers Respond!
Starting off, both Astaroth and Heine from Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! were quality waifus that many fans enjoyed this season. Did you watch the show?
Full Dive RPG had four great 2D waifus and a fresh and interesting story, creating a fun twist on a Sword Art Online-like RPG world, though there were a lot of jokes about pantswetting. I especially liked the yandere childhood friend who spends the entire show seeking to kill the main character.

One rare anime that I didn’t enjoy was Osamake: A Generic Rom-Com Where Fans Won’t Win. However, I did like the character designs, especially of Kuroha Shida.
Eighty-Six was an outstanding anime about a war in a futuristic world in which battles are fought by “unmanned” mecha units… though this is a convenient political definition since the pilots doing the fighting aren’t given full citizenship, and thus aren’t counted as humans when they die. The character Lena was a popular 2D waifu this season.
It’s been a real joy to have such a perfect remake of the classic Fruits Basket, and the new series is really top quality. Every scene with Tohru makes us smile.

One smash hit of the season was Vivy: Flourite Eye’s Song, about the 100-year journey of a singing A.I. to try to stop a war between humanity and the robots they’ve created. It was a very dark and thoughtfully written show, and Vivy was a popular character both for the emotional journey she went on, as well as her snarky banter with the A.I. Matsumoto.
One of the most entertaining rom-com of the season was Koikimo: It’s Too Gross to Call This Love, about the efforts of an older, dashing playboy to win the heart of a high school girl who saved his life. Although some could argue Ryo’s hot sister Rio was one of the best 2D waifus of the season, Ichika’s adorable on-screen presence made her win out in the end.
We all had fun watching Nagatoro-san, a poor girl with no bones in her arms who has lots of fun teasing her Senpai with sexy moves designed to embarrass him. But in the end, her plans always backfire, getting him a lucky accidental ass grope, or a view of her in a compromising situation that she didn’t plan on, as their relationship becomes closer. Was Nagatoro the best 2D waifu of the season for you?
Here’s my post on why we love Nagatoro so much!
Another show that was filled with adorable waifus was Higehiro, aka I Shaved. Then I Brought a High School Girl Home. It’s filled with super cute females who would all be down with dating Yoshida if only he’d say the word. But of course, his heart belongs to…
Sayu Ogiwara, the wayward JK who Yoshida saves from a life on the street, and watches over to keep her safe. Is she not the best 2D waifu of the current anime season?
If we define anime “waifus” to be inanimate objects from anime who are the targets of feelings of love, why can’t Koguma’s #SuperCub win the “best waifu of the season” award? pic.twitter.com/vyJl8ale4f

Of course, there’s one more inanimate 2D object that deserves our love: the Super Cub from the surprisingly awesome anime about a girl whose life is changed when she buys a Honda motorcycle and is suddenly able to travel anywhere she wants, making friends and discovering a whole new side of life. Does anyone want to nominate the Super Cub as the best 2D waifu of the season?
