Have you ever wanted something desperately, only to realize that it’s a joy that’s beyond your reach? I recently had a moment like that. For the past two years, I’ve been saving and hoarding gear to attempt my first thru-hike — the Arizona Trail. I dreamt of those SoBo days and touching that southern terminus. Alas, that’s a dream that’s now firmly in the ground. I’ve never watched No Game, No Life, but I imagine this is how fans feel. But while there’s nothing I can do to place my hands on that terminus, fans of No Game, No Life can at least relive the glory days by buying the Shiro 1/7 summer season figure by Phat Company.
This figure is the perfect companion for the hot and dreary days ahead, and at $199, it won’t break the bank. So let’s gush about Phat Company’s attention to detail for a while.

The Shiro 1/7 Summer Season Figure — Phat Company’s LSD Trip
I’ve always loved colorful things, whether it’s flowers or orange-tinted skies. Colors call me. That makes it even more puzzling that I’ve never seen or read No Game, No Life. Yuu Kamiya’s and Mashiro Hiiragi’s illustrations attract me like a newlywed, busty bride attracts a fat bastard. When a figure’s color production catches your attention more than its intricate sculpting, it’s worth fawning over.
Hoshina Eimi handled the color production on the Shiro 1/7 summer season figure, and I’m envious. If I merge all of my life’s accomplishments, they’re not even in the same galaxy as the glory of this figure’s color production. Eimi-san looked at a nacreous cloud, looked at God, and said, “Hold my sake.” I never understood why people insist on preaching that “it’s what’s on the inside that matters.” That’s bullocks, every animal from a salamander to a peacock knows that the more vibrant you are, the better life treats you. And calling this figure vibrant is like calling the Tawawa on Mondays waifus stacked — it’s an honest description, but it’s lackluster at best.
That said, Abe Koudai’s sculpting work doesn’t fall behind. The Shiro 1/7 summer season figure is so detailed it’s dizzying. Shiro’s hair flutters like a storm, and the intricacy of all her accessories and pose is surreal. Every time I look at the Shiro 1/7 figure, I see something else that catches my attention. Abe-san gave even the smallest detail in this figure his soul. This is the work of a man who believes in passion over profession. And at 7.41” (19 cm), that passion is effortlessly displayed. So why not add this figure to your collection?

No Game, No Life Deets
MF Bunko J imprint has published thirteen volumes of No Game, No Life since its April 2012 debut. Yuu Kamiya wrote the story, which features illustrations by himself and Mashiro Hiiragi. And in a true otaku love story, Kamiya-sensei and his wife (Mashiro Hiiragi) adapted the light novel into a Monthly Comic Alive serialized manga.
No Game, No Life boasts a Yuizaki Kazuya side manga titled No Game No Life, Please! Ryu Naitou illustrated further adaptations of the No Game, No Life manga, titled No Game No Life Chapter 2: Eastern Union Arc. Yen Press releases the light novel and main manga in English.
Madhouse adapted No Game, No Life into a TV anime in 2014. If you buy the Shiro 1/7 Summer Season figure, they might adapt more of it.
