J-List offers many How to Draw books from Japan on the site , which go into detail about how to approach important subjects like how to design sexually attractive characters, how to design “furry” characters, and even how to draw compelling panties and lingerie. Now there’s a How to Draw book that focuses on this important aspect of creating finished art, called Character Paint Encyclopedia For Digital Illustration, which we have in stock on J-List, in which several talented artists show you how to digitally paint your illustrations.
In the Character Paint Encyclopedia, ten different artists all create line illustrations for you, and explain their methodology for going about painting the illustration, dividing the work into many layers so that individual sections can be worked on separately, with hair, eyes, facial shading and background details switched on or off, and so on. In addition to the main ten illustrations to be colored — which are all fully downloadable so you can try your hand and working with each image, using the QR code on each page — there are 76 videos by the artists showing how they went about digitally painting their works, which you get access to when you purchase the book. You also get bonus brushes and other tools that the artists use, for Clip Studio Pro.
The book is in Japanese, though since the amount of explanation is in small boxes along the edges of illustrations, it’s very easy to translate the information using the Google Translate app in your phone.
