Vending Machine Isekai Series Getting Anime Adaptation!

Ever since I first heard of the existence of this light novel series, I’ve been waiting ever so patiently for it to get an anime adaptation, and finally, my patience has been rewarded. In an announcement that hit the internet this past weekend, it was publicized that the quirky isekai series Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon will get an anime adaptation. Not only that, but it’s already been confirmed that the anime will stream on Crunchyroll!

Unfortunately, no further details about the anime have been released including what format it will be in (TV, OVA, etc), who will be in the cast, or which studio will be producing the anime.

For those who have never heard of this series before and thus have no idea why fans are so excited, let’s talk about it.

Another series that had humble beginnings in Japan, Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon began on the now infamous Shōsetsuka ni Narō site in 2016 before all three volumes were released physically by Kadokawa Shoten. Eventually, the series was licensed in English by Yen Press, which has released all three volumes. A manga adaptation of the series launched in Dengeki Daioh in 2021 (the manga has also been licensed by Yen Press).

In the series, the main character is a vending machine otaku in Japan who is crushed to death by one of his beloved machines. When he wakes up, he finds he has been transported to a fantasy world, except instead of being reborn as a dashing hero, he has been reborn as a sentient vending machine. Eventually, he comes across a busty young hunter named Lammis who names the machine Boxxo and starts carrying it around on her back as she continues to explore the dungeon.
