This series poses the question of whether or not it is possible to use healing magic improperly. My philosophy is this: if it works, it works. The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic (How to Use Healing Magic Wrongly: Main Recovery Team Member Running Through the Battlefield / Chiyu Maho no Machigatta Tsukai-kata: Senjo o Kakeru Kaifuku Yoin) sees an average and unlikely hero put healing skills to clever use. Studios Add and Shin-Ei Animation will air the series sometime in 2024. Until then, we can certainly enjoy the trailer.
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic has a promotional home page and an official Twitter page. Fans and newcomers alike can go there for more behind the scenes information. You can find extras, such as the key visual seen below, there as well.
An Unexpected Summoning
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic follows the typical isekai story of an unlikely hero drawn to another world. Our leading protagonist was summoned by accident, contrary to other isekai series. Ken Usato is an average student who doesn’t stick out in any remarkable way. He never tried to fit in with the idols of his school, and never expected to meet them. However, one rainy day, the student council leaders reached out to him with an umbrella.
Student Council President Suzune Inukami and Vice President Kazuki Ryusen offered a hand of friendship, and the two walked with him out of the school. A magic array appeared at their feet while they discuss their plans for the future. Suzune surprisingly expressed excitement at the prospect of an isekai adventure. Although Kazuki and Suzune heard a sound before the array appeared, Ken didn’t. Nevertheless, he was summoned along with them.
Ken, Suzune, and Kazuki found themselves before Lloyd Bluegust Lyngle, the King of Lyngle. To years ago, the Demon Lord’s army clashed with the soldiers of Lyngle. Victory was hard-fought, and King Lloyd decided to use forbidden magic to draw heroes from another world to fight on their behalf.
Welsey, the court mage, performs an aptitude test on the heroes. Kazuki gains light magic. Likewise, Suzune has lightning magic. However, Usato has healing magic, a type rarer than others. Rose, a leader of the rescue squad, subsequently drafts Usato into her ranks. He’s put through hellish training to improve his mana. Usato will use healing magic in unique ways under Rose’s tutelage.
