Bara fans rejoice, because we are eating good this summer! After the English release of the bara mobile game GYEE, there’s even more meat on the way. Announced as the newest ComicFesta anime, ITKZ’s boy’s love (BL) isekai manga, Kyojinzoku no Hanayome (The Titan’s Bride) has been greenlit for a TV anime adaptation and is slated to air this year. Originally announced in March, new cast details and first key visuals were announced alongside the July 5th premiere date. Twenty-four episodes are scheduled.
After having graduated from high school, Koichi Mizuki (Kento Ito) says goodbye to all his friends on the basketball team and unwinds at home. Although he expresses still needing to study for college entrance exams, he does what any 18-year-old boy does in the privacy of their bedroom, and decides to “play ball.” During which, Koichi hears a distant voice and is then summoned to a fantasy world, filled with magic, beastmen, and a kingdom of giants! Though tall for a human, Koichi is a dwarf when standing next to the titan prince Caius, who immediately rejoices upon Koichi’s arrival. He proclaims Koichi to be his true love, and immediately asks him to be his bride! Lucky, guy!
As comedic as it sounds, it’s not all romance and a feast of a 70cm (2ft, 3.5in) height-difference kink in this magical new world for Koichi. A dark prophecy has befallen the nation, thus provoking Caius to summon his future bride from another realm. Although Koichi makes it clear that he has no plans to marry Caius, he agrees to stay and play along as his fiancé for one month until things are settled in Caius’s kingdom. Little does he know that he has agreed to live in a world where public sexual displays are celebrated, regardless of gender, where showing one’s body in revealing outfits at formal events is hailed as tradition, and where celebratory fruit has a powerful aphrodisiac effect. Koichi is living the dream life!
Despite it all, as the story progresses, Caius proves himself time and again to be kind, protective, and respectful of Koichi’s boundaries, even if he is slow on the initial uptake. He may not be the smartest giant in the royal family, but he’s every bit smitten with Koichi as he is to his own kingdom. Passionate, charming, sincere, and with a big heart to match his big… “determination” for his future bride, Caius wishes to make Koichi fall in love with him before the month is up. He’s a grade-A himbo, played by Yuuki Ono (Granblue Fantasy, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT).
The Titan’s Bride will receive a censored version for the TV broadcast, but an adult premium version with explicit sex scenes will be made available exclusively on the ComicFesta Anime website for paid memberships. The anime is being produced by Studio Hokiboshi, known for their sexually explicit series. This will mark the studio’s third production overall, after Overflow and My Childhood Friend is a Firefighter, as well as the studio’s first BL series. Rei Ishikura will be returning alongside many of the Overflow staff, serving as the series director.
Currently, the manga only has a single volume out in Japan with a partnered drama CD, but it is being updated regularly. The English version is available through Coolmic’s digital publications.
