Japan is being hit hard right now with plenty of delays and cancellations in the anime industry. Still, cogs of the machine keep on turning, and despite currently airing or soon to debut anime being put on hold, upcoming projects are still being announced and revealed. The latest anime announcement comes from Kodansha, who has confirmed that the Meguru Seto light novel series The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter (Ore Dake Haireru Kakushi Dungeon ~Kossori Kitaete Sekai Saikyō) is set to get a television anime adaptation.
Originally launched in January of 2017, Seto began serializing The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter digitally on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” (Let’s Become Novelists) novel website before it was eventually picked up by Kodansha. Kodansha has published five volumes of the light novel series in Japan, as well as four volumes of the manga adaptation from Tomoyuki Hino that first debuted in 2018 on the Suiyobi no Sirius website, a digital offshoot of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine. Seven Seas has licensed the light novel series and manga for global release, and describes the story as follows:
Noir is the son of a minor noble with very little to his name other than a job offer – which is canceled before he can even start his first day. He does possess one rare trait, though: the magical ability to consult with a great sage, even if using the skill gives him terrible headaches! Unsure of what his future holds, he accesses the sage for advice on how to move forward and is directed to a secret dungeon filled with rare beasts and magical items. It is here that Noir will train, compiling experience and wealth, until he’s powerful enough to change his fate.
The anime adaptation of The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter is set to be produced at Okuruto Noboru, the anime studio previously responsible for Chō Jigen Game Neptune The Animation: Nepu no Natsuyasumi. It will be directed by Kenta Onishi, who you might recognize from his work on My Roomate is a Cat and Clockwork Planet. He’s joined by series script supervisor Kenta Ihara, who previously worked on Saga of Tanya the Evil, Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious, and Shachibato! President, It’s Time for Battle!. Character designs are being handled by Yuya Uetake, an artist with previous credits on My Roommate is a Cat and The Rising of The Shield Hero.
