A game developer finds his life completely changed as the clock strikes midnight on his MMORPG. Demon Lord, Retry! R continues his adventures to discover why someone summoned him to another world as his in-game character. We’ll see how he does when his epic tale resumes sometime in October 2024.
Kurone Kanzaki posted the original Demon Lord, Retry! novel to Shosetsuka ni Naro sometime in 2016. Futabasha obtained the publishing rights and hired the artist Koji Ogata to adapt the series to a light novel format starting in July 2017. Monster Bunko and M Novels have published nine volumes thus far. Ekachi Epilka’s anime adaptation premiered on July 4th, 2019.
Our isekai demon lord and his first friends are as follows:
- Hakuto Kunai / Akira Oono — Kenjiro Tsuda (Kento Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen). Another world summons this game developer as his in-game avatar. He wields the power of a demon lord.
- Aku — Aina Suzuki (Mari Ohara from Love Live! Sunshine!!). An innocent girl who lost her family to a plague. Her unusual appearance made her an outcast in her village.
- Luna Elegant — Kaori Ishihara (Shouta Magatsuchi from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid). Luna is the youngest of the Holy Maidens in the Kingdom of Holy Light. Only her prodigious magical talents match her inflated ego.

Demon Lord, Retry! R Lost in Another World as My Avatar
The MMORPG Infinity Game had been sunset after an impressive fifteen-year run. Akira Oono shut down his creation at the stroke of 12 o’clock. However, just as his fictional world ended, another world summoned him in the form of his in-game avatar, the Demon Lord Hakuto Kunai. He also gained the powers and personality of his demon lord character. Hakuto met the orphan peasant girl Aku and rescued her from danger to gain information. He later formed a familial bond with her. Then, he gained some attractive leads to discover explanations for his summoning after meeting the Holy Maiden Luna Elegant.
Hakuto encountered a mysterious being who could be the creator god in the lowest level of the Bastille Dungeon. He travels to the Hellion Territory after that fateful meeting. It is an area where powerful demons vie for supremacy. Hakuto summoned another adviser, the popular idol of Infinity Game, Akane Fujisaki. She once served as a boss in the Nightless Castle fortress. But her popularity with the player base transcended her initial role.
