Back in December 2022, the staff behind the hit anime adaptation of Spy x Family revealed that we weren’t done with the Forgers yet! In the initial announcement, they announced that the anime would continue with a second season and an original movie. And now we know when we’ll be seeing these tidbits of delight.
In the follow-up announcement, the staff revealed that the second season will hit the airwaves in October 2023, just enough time for us to get our fill of Anya before we get a special holiday dessert in the form of the original movie titled SPY×FAMILY Code: White, in December 2023 (at least in Japanese theaters, the overseas premiere details won’t be revealed for a while).
We still don’t know many details regarding the second season or movie beyond most of the original staff will return from Season One with only a few non-consequential additions. What’s most interesting to me, however, is that manga author Tatsuya Endo is in charge of the movie script and is supervising the project. That fills me with even more inner glee.
The first season of Spy x Family took fans through volume six of the manga, which means that Season Two will begin with one of my favorite story arcs from any manga ever. I can’t give away any details, or else I will ruin the whole thing for everyone, but trust me when I say that if you thought Yor got the short end of the stick in Season One, you shouldn’t be disappointed with what you see when the series returns this October, especially considering that powerhouse studios WIT STUDIO and Cloverworks are returning to produce that sweet, sweet animation that we all love to see!
