The isekai protagonist with a handy and horrific cheat skill is making his return! The scars from the Battle for Priestella remain, and Subaru works to heal them and recover what they lost. Many life-threatening challenges await them on the path to the Sage. We’ll see if they make it when Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World Season 4 premieres sometime in 2026.
Tappei Nagatsuki and Shin’ichiro Otsuka released the original Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World light novel on January 24th, 2014. Media Factory has published 41 volumes and six side stories in the MF Bunko J imprint. Studio White Fox’s anime adaptation premiered on April 4th, 2016.
The unfortunate isekai protagonist and two of his cute friends are as follows:
- Subaru Natsuki — Yusuke Kobayashi (Dino from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime). A reclusive Japanese guy whom another world summoned. His gift and curse allow him to avoid death.
- Emilia — Rie Takahashi (Pepper from Urusei Yatsura). A half-elf girl and one of the candidates to become the next King of Lugunica.
- Ram — Murakawa Rie (Najimi Osana from Komi Can’t Communicate). Rem’s older twin sister and Margrave Roswaal L. Mathers’s maid.

Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World Ventures Out to Save the Lost
Subaru Natsuki was once a recluse in Japan. He spent most of his time in his room, just idling around without a care or a goal in the world. Subaru idolized his hard-working father and felt pride when others compared the two. Those comparisons slowly strangled him when he saw himself as inferior to his father. His unexpected summoning to another world forced him to grow up and overcome that self-loathing.
Subaru has since teamed with Princess Emilia and joined her camp to help her ascend to the throne of the Kingdom of Lugunica. The other royal candidates gathered in the Watergate City of Priestella to decide on a ruler. However, the Sin Archbishops of the Witch Cult appeared and wrought chaos to an already tense situation. The Witch Cult may have suffered defeat, and the city liberated, but the scars of battle remained. Subaru now leads the charge to the Pleiades Watchtower to help restore those who continue to suffer.
