The groundbreaking ecchi and martial arts anime series is heading to the beach! They’re also heading to the stage, but beach episodes have girls in bikinis, and we’ll be focusing on that for now. Martial arts waifus will engage in battle on the warm sand for an appreciative crowd pretty soon. One of those waifus is a top-tier genderswap girl, and we appreciate that too. We’ll see the cultured battles unfold when Ranma 1/2 (Ranma Nibun-no-Ichi) Season 2 premieres on October 4th, 2025.
Rumiko Takahashi released the original Ranma 1/2 manga series between August 19th, 1987, and March 6th, 1996. Shogakukan published all 38 volumes in the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. Studio Deen’s anime adaptation premiered on April 15th, 1989. Studio MAPPA’s anime adaptation premiered on October 6th, 2024.
Ranma 1/2 Cast
The unlikely martial arts couple and a love rival are as follows:
- Ranma Saotome — Kappei Yamaguchi (male Ranma) (Kechizu from Jujutsu Kaisen), Megumi Hayashibara (female Ranma) (Musashi/Jessie from Pokémon). A martial artist whose ego matches his skill. A curse transforms Ranma into a girl whenever he’s doused with cold water.
- Akane Tendo — Noriko Hidaka (Shiny Chariot / Professor Ursula from Little Witch Academia). Ranma’s fiancée and a fellow martial artist. She is a tomboy at heart.
- Shampoo — Rei Sakuma (Lidvia Lorenzetti from To Aru Majutsu no Index III). A Chinese Amazon who must slay female Ranma to preserve her honor. She also happens to be in love with male Ranma.

Ranma 1/2 Heads to the Beach
Ranma Saotome has spent his formative years traveling with his father, Gendo. They traveled the world to hone their martial arts prowess. Their labor has paid off dividends. They’re among the most skilled martial artists around. However, they hit a snag during their training; they fell into cursed springs that changed their forms. Ranma now becomes a girl, and Gendo now becomes a panda.
Ranma’s new fiancée is none too pleased with his transformations. Well, she’s not happy about their arranged marriage to begin with. In more recent times, other girls Ranma has met have decided to barge into their lives to claim him as their fiancé. Their most recent struggles have taken them to the beach. Sticks, watermelons, and ki blasts from old ladies will fly. The girls in bikinis make it all worthwhile.
