The officers of Section 2 continue their patrol even as technology advances. With the rise of AI and a shrinking workforce, the use of Labors has changed. However, crimes relying on Labors remain much the same as in Noa Izumi’s time on the force. Towa and Atori inherited her mission in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and worked tirelessly to maintain public peace. We’ll see them tackle much more advanced crimes when Patlabor EZY (Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor: EZY) premieres on May 15th, 2026.
Patlabor EZY will consist of eight episodes. However, it will first premiere as three theatrical movies, “File 1” on May 15th, “File 2” on August 14th, and “File 3” sometime in March 2027.

Headgear members Masami Yuki, Mamoru Oshii, Kazunori Ito, Yutaka Izubuchi, and Akemi Takada released the original Patlabor manga series between March 23rd, 1988, and May 11th, 1994. Shogakukan published all 22 volumes in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Studio Deen’s anime adaptation premiered on April 25th, 1988.
Patlabor EZY Cast
The two leading mecha pilot cops are as follows:

- Towa Kuga — Sumire Uesaka (Hayase Nagatoro from Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro). Towa is a reckless officer who throws herself into every operation.
- Atori Kippei — Kikunosuke Toya (Denji from Chainsaw Man). Atori is calmer and more analytical than Towa, but he supports her every endeavor.
Studio J.C.Staff maintains a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Patlabor EZY. You can find more information about the series and the key visuals at those sites.

Patlabor EZY Continues to Ensure Public Safety
The advent of powerful mecha called “Labors” revolutionized construction and law enforcement in Japan. These machines allowed for safer and more efficient work, thus the name “Labors.” The police force and military also deployed these mobile suits for public safety. That became necessary when criminals would also adopt the new technology, prompting an arms race of sorts between law enforcement and criminals. The police wield these Labors on patrol and have thus dubbed them “Patlabor.”

More than 30 years have passed since its founders established the Special Vehicles Division, and Noa became a premier police officer. People now see Labors as just a regular part of everyday life. However, a reduction in workforce has seen these Labors operated by autonomous AI rather than human beings. In fact, most consider Labors requiring human input as obsolete. That’s when new Section 2 officers enter the field. The rambunctious Towa Kuga and her level-headed partner Atori Kippei will enforce the law and protect their city.
