With the state of emergency in Japan being extended to the end of May, countless industries and businesses across the nation have been put on pause or shut down entirely as citizens do their best to curb the spread of COVID-19. This has led to a number of high-profile anime projects being postponed or canceled as studios are no longer able to come together and work on them. Last month, we saw upcoming series like Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- and highly anticipated films such as Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel III. spring song hit with sudden premiere delays due to the ongoing concerns over COVID-19. One other project that was hit with a delay was Oregairu My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Climax (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru. Kan), the highly anticipated final season of the anime adaptation of Wataru Watari’s famous romantic light novel series My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru). Now we know just when the series will be making its debut on Japanese television.
Oregairu My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Climax was originally set to premiere on April 9th on TBS in Japan, before later coming to Amazon Prime Video in Japan for a streaming premiere. In the wake of COVID-19 quarantines, though, the climactic final season of the series was delayed indefinitely. Now, the official website for the anime series has confirmed that the debut of the show has been rescheduled to July of this year. Specific timeslot details and streaming availability, however, have yet to be confirmed.
Sentai, who have localized and released the first two seasons of Oregairu My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU overseas, describes the series as follows:
Based upon the light novels of Wataru Watari, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU returns with the series’ long-awaited conclusion and resolution to the nail-biting cliffhanger ending of season 2! But the messy emotions of Hachiman, Yukino, and Yui won’t be easily expressed, and as the members of the Service Club band together to host a school prom, they will have to put their feelings into words and truly learn to understand each other at long last… if the Service Club can even stay afloat, that is!
