The third season of the beloved slice-of-life anime Non Non Biyori has received an official announcement that it will be airing in January of 2021. Five years since the airing of the second season, titled Non Non Biyori Repeat, and two years after the release of Non Non Biyori Vacation, the theatrical film, the third season will officially be named Non Non Biyori Nonstop and will continue following the daily adventures of four grade-schoolers in the countryside town of Asashigaoka. The announcement was made both on the show’s official website and Twitter page, along with a new key visual with the four main characters.
According to the official site, it seems the staff behind Nonstop will primarily be the same as the prior two seasons. Shinya Kawatsura will be directing the series once again along with writer Reiko Yoshida. Animation Studio SILVER LINK will be the ones in charge of animating as they have been for both the first two seasons as well as the movie. The voice cast will be reprising their roles with Rie Murakawa as Hotaru Ichijo, Kotori Kowai as Renge Miyauchi, Kana Asumi as Komari Koshigaya and Ayane Sakura as Natusmi Koshigawa.
The third season of the series was first announced last year with a teaser promo that stated production had started, though no official title had been given at the time. In these current times of delays and cancellations, some fans may have been worried that Non Non Biyori’s third season would have been among the number of shows to be on the chopping block. Hopefully the news of this announcement is a sign of a return to normalcy as anime studios start to resume production.
For fans of slice-of-life, 2021 could potentially be a year for getting comfy with anime girls as, in addition to Nonstop, the second season of Yuru Camp is also still announced to start airing next year.
