Our initial look at No Longer Allowed in Another World (Isekai Shikkaku) provided more details. For instance, there will be a cute cat girl martial artist and a cute elven mage. This tale is about someone who didn’t want Truck-kun to appear and send him to another world. Instead, the isekai life chose him. We’ll see how things go when the series premieres sometime in July 2024. Let’s enjoy the new trailer until then.
No Longer Allowed in Another World is written by Hiroshi Noda and illustrated by Takahiro Wakamatsu. Shogakukan began publishing the series in their Yawaraka Spirits magazine on October 2nd, 2019. They have released eight volumes to date.
Out (un)lucky isekai protagonists and his cute waifu companions are as follows:
- Osamu Dazai “Sensei” — Hiroshi Kamiya (Levi from Attack on Titan). A famed author with a dour look on life. His double suicide pact was interrupted by Truck-kun. He now wanders around another world for a place to rest in peace.
- Annette — Rumi Okubo (Mem-cho from Oshi no Ko). A powerful elven mage who oversees the cathedral where people from other worlds arrive. Osamu’s unique disposition inspires her to join him on his adventures.
- Tama — Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika Ijichi from Bocchi The Rock!). A skilled cat girl martial artist. Osamu accidentally saves her from a Death Tree when he offers to share her fate. She joins him on his adventures afterward.
Atelier Pontdarc has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote No Longer Allowed in Another World. You can find additional series information and Key Visuals there.
No Longer Allowed in Another World Even with a Death Wish
No Longer Allowed in Another World turns the whole “die in one world to live in another” isekai trope on its head. Osamu Dazai planned a double suicide with his beloved Shizuko Oota on June 13th, 1948. Everything was set for their fateful dive in a river. However, the ever-faithful Truck-kun appeared and sent Osamu to another world. He appeared in a cathedral overseen by the elven mage Annette. She gave him the standard “welcome to another world, adventurer!” line, but he was uninterested. Annette even told him about his video game-like abilities, but those didn’t exist in 1948.
Osamu left the cathedral and looked for a way to die. He eventually came upon a monster tree about to kill a cat girl. Rather than try to help her, Osamu offered himself up to die. Yet again, death had not taken him. The tree absorbed the poison in his body and decayed, saving the girl and damning Osamu to life. He realized then that Shizuko may have been reborn in that world, too, which gave him a reason to live. Osamu would find her, and they would finish what they started together.
