As is typical of many isekai series, a mysterious force summons a group of Japanese high school students to a world of swords and sorcery. This would usually be a time for excitement. Adventure awaits these people from a non-magical world! However, the quiet kid in class suspects a trap. We’ll see what he finds when My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s (Assassin de Aru no Sutetasu ga Yusha Yori mo Akiraka ni Tsuyoi Nodaga) premieres sometime in October 2025.
Matsuri Akai and Tozai released the original My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s light novel on November 25th, 2017. Overlap has since published four volumes in the Overlap Bunko imprint.
The isekai protagonist and two of his new cute friends are as follows:
- Akira Oda — Takeo Otsuka (Aquamarine Hoshino from Oshi no Ko). A quiet guy from Japan. His Assassin Class outpaces even the Hero Class.
- Amelia Rosequartz — Saku Mizuno (Ryo Yamada from Bocchi the Rock!). An Elven princess whose twin sister betrayed her. She happily teams up with Akira.
- Lia Lagoon — Konomi Tamura (Emma Abelein from Vermeil in Gold). A mysterious cat girl.

Akira Oda is a quiet and aloof person. His cold demeanor hides an otherwise kind and gentle soul. He works tirelessly to support a younger sister and an ailing mother. But circumstances threaten Akira’s work after a grand summoning spell spirits him and his entire class to another world. Whereas his friends see a world full of adventure and glory waiting for them, Akira senses only treachery.
Akira quickly realized that his stats are far and above even the Hero’s own. He decided to make himself scarce so as not to draw too much attention. His instincts were correct; the king and princess are plotting to use Akira and his friends for some grand purpose. The story that demons plan to invade the human kingdom may ring true, but the royal family is hiding something from them. Akira will take his leave and find an elven princess to join his party.
