Time to add another romantic workplace comedy to your ‘to watch’ list!
Earlier this month, a brand new Twitter account was launched which revealed that the full-color manga series My Senpai is Annoying is getting a television anime adaptation! Sadly, as is the usual case with these announcements, we don’t have a lot of details but we can confirm that studio Doga Kobo will produce the animation.
Originally a manga series created by Shiro Manta, My Senpai is Annoying launched back in 2017 and is serialized online under the Comic POOL digital manga magazine label. There are five collected volumes currently on sale in Japan as of early July 2020. In the west, the first volume of the manga was just recently released in English by Seven Seas, who describes the story as:
Igarashi is a hardworking young office lady. Takeda, the senpai above her at work, annoys her constantly — and yet she finds herself growing closer to him. Every day is filled with comic mishaps and romantic moments as Igarashi tries to balance work, life, and love. This full-color manga — which started its life as a webcomic — is sure to charm audiences of workplace comedies like Aggretsuko and The Office!
This will not be the first time that My Senpai is Annoying is animated, however, as the second, third, and fourth volumes received animated promotional videos. It has not been confirmed that the voices from the promotional videos will return to reprise the roles in the television anime.
In the first promotional video (which lasts over five minutes!), the voices are provided by Haruka Shiraishi as Igarashi and Takaya Kuroda as Takeda.
This is a series that sounds like it’s right up my alley and I’m already anxious to hear more details such as cast, crew, and release date. Hopefully, this information is released sooner rather than later!
