A new anime superhero movie arrives this August! My Hero Academia: You’re Next is the latest in the long-running superhero anime series. The film will premiere in August, so our summer will be hotter than usual. Until then, let’s enjoy the new trailer. We see a new wicked figure with a familiar face.
Kohei Horikoshi began writing and drawing his heroic My Hero Academia series on July 7th, 2014. Shueisha has so far published 38 volumes in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.
Three of our iconic heroes are as follows:
- Izuku Midoriya — Daiki Yamashita (Naoto Hachioji from Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro). An idealistic young man who dreamed of becoming a hero. Though born without a superpower, he inherited the abilities of the greatest hero, All Might.
- Ochaco Uraraka — Ayane Sakura (Orio in Pokémon Horizons: The Series). A kind young woman and a firm ally to Izuku. She can negate the effects of gravity on any person or object she touches.
- Momo Yaoyorozu — Marina Inoue (Tohka Yatogami from Date A Live). One of the beauties who dresses in revealing hero costumes. She can convert her fat cells into inanimate objects for her use.
Studio Bones has maintained a home page for both the anime series and movie, as well as Twitter (X) pages for the anime series and movie and an Instagram page to promote My Hero Academia and the You’re Next movie. You can find additional series information and Key Visuals there.
My Hero Academia: You’re Next Desecrates a Hero
My Hero Academia is set in a world where superpowered people arrive to save the day whenever tragedy strikes. Izuku Midoriya is one of the many who dream of becoming a legendary hero like the great All Might. That wouldn’t be possible because Izuku was born without a Quirk. Without a superpower, he couldn’t be a superhero. Even All Might dismissed his dreams as impossible. Upon seeing Izuku rush to his friend’s aid without a superpower, All Might changed his mind and agreed to take Izuku as a student after bestowing his power, One For All, onto Izuku.
The events of You’re Next take place while the city still deals with the devastating effects of all-out war. A masked man has appeared with a large fortress. This structure draws entire towns and people into itself. The heroes mount a defense to halt the abductions, only to confront the man himself. The removal of the mask reveals an all-too-familiar face.
