A cute and cold office mentor tries her best at her job. She wants to be friendly and helpful with everyone, but she’s having some difficulty. Mentors shouldn’t get nervous and present an angered voice and expression. Only her subordinate sees through her and finds her cute and charming. We’ll see how these two get along at work when My Awkward Senpai (Bukiyo na Senpai) premieres sometime in October 2025.
Makoto Kudo released the original My Awkward Senpai manga series on December 6th, 2019. Square Enix has since published eight volumes in Young Gangan.
My Awkward Senpai’s Cast
The titular senpai and her two understanding friends are as follows:

- Azusa Kannawa — Lynn (Miyako Saito from Oshi no Ko). A skilled yet socially anxious office lady.
- Yu Kamegawa — Shogo Sakata (Modaka from Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Girls in a Dungeon?). A new employee who enjoys working with his mentor.
- Miho Hotta — Ami Maeshima (Makeru Yadano from Komi Can’t Communicate). Azusa’s former classmate and a member of the Public Relations Department.
Studio Elle maintains a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote My Awkward Senpai. There, you can find additional series information and the key visuals.

My Awkward Senpai is the Cutest in the World
Azusa Kannawa is a diligent and hardworking office lady. Her cold and aloof exterior hides a kind and gentle heart. Azusa struggles to connect with others, especially her kouhai Yu Kamegawa. While other employees think Azusa is scary and mean, Yu thinks she’s helpful and earnest. He catches sight of her tablet, which shows a checklist of how she should approach other people, including greeting them properly and giving clear instructions. Yu knows then and there that he’s right about her.

Azusa and Yu will grow closer after he catches sight of her tablet and its incriminating checklist. She will go out of her way to help him, such as downing a glass of vodka after some co-workers press Yu to drink at a company gathering. In turn, he will praise her simple ponytail and survive a tailwhip. Their first lunch outing will surely be just as cute and cozy.
