A new teacher-student romance series is coming. Murai in Love (Murai no Koi) shows what happens when a handsome student tries to charm his cute teacher, who spends her free time playing otome games. We’ll see how he does when this anime series premieres sometime in October. Let’s enjoy the new trailer until then.
Junta Shima released the original Murai in Love manga series between June 18th, 2018, and June 13th, 2022. Line Corporation and Media Factory published all seven volumes in digital and physical formats, respectively.
The cute teacher, her favorite character, and her love-struck student are as follows:
- Ayano Tanaka — Yoko Hikasa (Weiss Schnee from RWBY: Ice Queendom). Ayano is a cute and kind teacher who spends her free time playing otome games.
- Hitotose — Nobunaga Shimazaki (Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen). Hitotose is a fictional character from Ayano’s favorite game.
- Murai — Kengo Takanashi (Kabaru from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime). Ayano’s student who deeply loves her. He changes his appearance to look like Hitotose.

Murai in Love, Ayano Not So Much
Ayano is a cute and charming teacher with no experience in love. She is a dedicated homeroom teacher who helps her students along their educational paths. Outside of that, she is a major otome game fanatic. Ayano has fallen in love with Hitotose, the protagonist of her newest game. Her school life has become more complicated thanks to Murai, one of her students.
Murai made his intentions perfectly clear in a recent future plans document: he wants to marry Ayano. She flatly rejects him by saying she has no interest in men with long black hair. The part where she clarifies that she isn’t interested in 3D men was said quietly. Murai went to school the next day with short blond hair that made him look like Hitotose. So begins his campaign to win over the steel-faced teacher Ayano.
