It’s not every day that a magic otaku gets his wish. A guy who waited until his 30th birthday to cast real magic got the isekai treatment and was reborn in another world. Unfortunately, his new world has yet to discover magic. Well, he’s not about to let that stop him! We’ll see what this isekai and magic otaku does with his new life when Magic Maker: Isekai Maho no Tsukurikata (How to Create Magic in Another World) premieres sometime in January 2025.
Kazuki Kaburagi and Kururi released the original Magic Maker: Isekai Maho no Tsukurikata light novel on May 25th, 2020. Media Factory has since released two volumes in the MF Books imprint. Mag Garden canceled the manga adaptation on February 4th, 2023, after releasing only three volumes in Manga Doa.
The isekai protagonist and two energetic friends are as follows:
- Shion Ornstein — Megumi Han (Penny Polendina from RWBY: Ice Queendom). An otaku who dreamed of wielding magic. His isekai adventures don’t start as he expected.
- Marie Ornstein — Ai Kakuma (Chino in Naruto Shippuden). Shion’s doting older sister. She wields a sword to protect him.
- Raphina — Yu Serizawa (Mini Yaemori from Rent-A-Girlfriend). An energetic and well-rounded girl.
Studio Deen has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Magic Maker: Isekai Maho no Tsukurikata. You can find additional series information and the key visuals there. You can’t have an isekai without magic or cute girls.
Magic Maker Turns the Fantastical into Reality
A magic otaku waited for a miracle upon reaching his 30th birthday. He longed to wield the arcane arts. Reality struck true and made him realize that his world lacked magical energy. A heart attack brought him down just as he resigned himself to a non-magical existence. He awoke in an infant’s body and realized he might get his wish on an isekai adventure.
Shion Ornstein was born to a lower noble family responsible for overseeing the territory. He asks about supernatural creatures such as demons and beasts. Lord Ornstein confirms that their territory has such beings. When asked about magic, his father is confused and reveals that he has never heard of “magic.” Shion became dejected and lost all interest in his new isekai life. Marie, his new big sister, became concerned and showed him mysterious lights suggesting “magic” might go by another name. His isekai life will be exciting after all.
