It’s a good time to be alive. Some might say that choice is the curse of the modern world, but the tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) industry is offering up the juiciest of choices, so we’re not complaining. The latest roleplaying games to be announced include Lupin the Third and Transformers.
Lupin the Third Roleplaying Game
The Lupin the Third TTRPG is scheduled for release in October, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the anime. Graphic art and artbook publisher Magnetic Press is producing and publishing the book. The game will use Magnetic’s new D6MV ruleset variation of the popular D6 System, under license from US-based West End Games (WEG).
You don’t need to be even casually into manga or anime to have heard of Lupin the Third, its long reign of success has more than secured worldwide fame for the franchise. That success has naturally created a string of media, including films, a live-action show, and games. Originally created by mangaka Monkey Punch, the property is now giving you a chance to play out your own globetrotting, crime heist adventures. Magnetic Press will also release a deluxe Lupin the Third anniversary coffee table book, which could be a great source of inspiration while you’re sitting around, playing the RPG.
If you’ve never watched it, we have one copy of the Lupin the 3rd —The Castle of Cagliostro Blu-ray left in store.
Transformers, GI-Joe, and Power Rangers Roleplaying Games
Did I not say we were spoilt for choice?
It’s no mystery that roleplaying games are doing very well right now. Not a day goes by without me hearing about another Gamemaster going pro, so players are clearly thirsty for rolling dice. Not all TTRPGs are about stabbing dragons and robbing dungeons though, as these three titles from Renegade Game Studio prove.
The Power Rangers, G.I. JOE, and Transformers Roleplaying Games are powered by the new Essence20 system, in which you roll a twenty-sided die (d20) and a skill die (ranging from a d2 to a d20) and need to beat a target score.
Renegade Game Studios isn’t skimping on the shiny, with deluxe dice, dice bags, and even an appropriately colorful Deluxe 6-Player Core Rulebook Set now up for preorder.
I guess It’s Morphin’ Roll Out Time, Joe!
