Countries may be lifting their lockdowns and reopening public establishments, but in many parts of the world, COVID-19 is far from over. Even in countries that are steadily improving their situations like Japan, the effects that COVID-19 has had are continuing to be felt in major ways. At the apex of the virus, we saw upcoming series like Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- and highly anticipated films such as Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel III. spring song hit with sudden premiere delays due to the ongoing concerns over COVID-19. While many of these delayed anime are now setting rescheduled broadcast and debut dates, it doesn’t mean that we’re done with delays. Case in point, the highly anticipated third season of Log Horizon has just been delayed to 2021.
The continuation of the critically acclaimed anime adaptation of Mamare Touno and Kazuhiro Hara’s Log Horizon light novel series was initially scheduled to debut this October. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, NHK reported that the series has been delayed until 2021.
When the third season of Log Horizon does finally premiere, though, it will be thanks to the tireless efforts from much of the same team that worked on the previous two seasons of the anime. Syouji Masuda is serving as story supervisor alongside director Shinji Ishihira at Studio DEEN, with Toshizo Nemoto returning to oversee series scripts. Shoji Hata also returns as sound director alongside returning music composer Yasuharu Takanashi.
Alongside a returning animation team, the entire massive voice acting cast of Log Horizon is set to return for season three. This includes the following actors and characters:
