Funimation Adds Eight More Aniplex Anime Titles

In an announcement posted to their official blog on Monday, June 15th, Funimation revealed that they’ve grown even larger, with the addition of eight more Aniplex titles to their catalog! Even better, every series listed is available in the US, Canada, UK, and Ireland (except Nisekoi which is only available in the US and Canada)! The full list of new Aniplex titles now available on Funimation’s streaming platform includes:

Nisekoi

Official Synopsis

Raku Ichijo is a high school student and heir to the Shuei-Gumi yakuza family. Years ago, he promised to marry a girl, and she gave him a pendant in return. When beautiful Chitoge transfers into his class, they agree to be fake lovers by a weird turn of events.

Originally a manga series created by Naoshi Komi, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2011 to 2016, the series was adapted into two seasons of anime produced by SHAFT in 2014 and 2015.

Star Driver

Official Synopsis

Beneath Southern Cross Island rests an ancient secret that has laid dormant until Takuto Tsunashi’s arrival. Enrolling in high school, he and his friends become embroiled in a conflict with a clandestine society to control giant machines, called Cybodies.

An original series produced by studio BONES and airing in 2010, this 25-episode series doesn’t get talked about nearly enough by fans any longer, which is sad.

Official Synopsis

Tsundere, Idol, Oneesan and Imouto (little sister type) are some of the personas that the waitresses play at Café Stile. New hire Maika is asked by the store manager to play none other than the Super Sadist!

Airing in 2017 and produced by A-1 Pictures, this series originally started as a four-panel manga series created by Miyuki Nakayama which has run in Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine since 2016.

Mushi-Shi The Next Passage (Mushishi: The Next Chapter)

Official Synopsis

Existing long before anyone can remember, and revered in ancient times, are bizarre creatures named “Mushi.” Not resembling any plant or animal in the world, they affect peoples’ lives in inexplicable ways.

Produced by Artland in 2014, this is the official sequel to the original Mushishi anime adaptation which aired in 2005. Originally a manga, this series ran from 1999 to 2008 and was collected into ten volumes.

Samurai Flamenco

Official Synopsis

Masayoshi Hazama is a man who became a superhero “by himself” with no superhuman powers or high-tech gadgets. None! Hidenori Goto is a cop who found out Hazama’s true identity by a strange twist of fate and now constantly gets in trouble because of him.

Produced by Manglobe, this original series aired in the Noitamina block in 2013. Now it’s on Funimation too.

Oreimo and Oreimo 2

Official Synopsis

Kyousuke’s relationship with his sister, Kirino, was always cold until he discovered her dark secret—she’s an obsessive consumer of anime and eroge!

After being assured that he wouldn’t reveal it to their parents, she shares her world with him revealing her problems balancing school life and her hobbies. Maybe her brother could become a crucial ally with all the difficulties that lie ahead.

Oreimo is not the actual title of this anime. The full, actual title of this anime is Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai… so you can understand why people just shorten it. Originally a light novel series from the creator of Eromanga Sensei, the first anime adaptation was produced by AIC and aired in 2011. A-1 Pictures produced the second season, which aired in 2013.

Classroom Crisis

Gunslinger Stratos

The only anime on this list of new anime at Funimation to adapt a video game series, A-1 Pictures produced the Gunslinger Stratos anime adaptation which aired in 2015.
