Why is it that the people most terrified of monsters attract monsters? The appropriately named Protagonist meets a monster girl and her friends and joins their efforts to revive their company. For good or ill, he’ll now have to confront that which scares him the most. The only good news is that the monster girl is pretty cute. We’ll see if he survives the job when Let’s Go Kaikigumi premieres on July 10th, 2026.

Byu released the original Let’s Go Kaikigumi manga series between July 19th, 2018, and July 12th, 2024. Shogakukan published all five volumes in Omocoro.
Let’s Go Kaikigumi Cast
The named main character, the cute, creepy girl, and her conspiratorial cousin are as follows:
- Protagonist — Tasuku Hatanaka (Denki Kaminari from My Hero Academia). Protagonist is a large, imposing man who is easily frightened by spirits.
- Mechako — Ruriko Aoki (Éclair Seaetto from The Rising of the Shield Hero). Mechako is the heir to the failing Kaikigumi company.
- Shurako — Yoshino Aoyama (Hitori Goto from Bocchi the Rock!). Shurako is Mechako’s cousin and the one trying to usurp Mechako’s position.
C-Station maintains a website, a TikTok account, and a Twitter (X) account to promote Let’s Go Kaikigumi. You can find more information about the series and the key visuals at those sites.
Let’s Go Kaikigumi! Let’s Revive the Yokai Company!
Mechako has recently inherited control of her family’s company, the Kaikigumi. Their mission is to monitor the behavior of ghosts and other monsters that threaten human beings. Mechako’s lack of understanding of human fear has led to the company’s decline. Even her own cousin plots against her to take the company. Mechako’s fortunes seem to change when she meets someone six times more likely to face the supernatural.
Protagonist is deathly afraid of the supernatural, something that Mechako values. Despite his fears, he agrees to help revive the Kaikigumi. His new “friends” are all some form of monster that would normally terrify him, from the haunted doll that the former leader didn’t seal away to the bikini-clad snow woman who shrinks at the slightest touch of warmth.
