Keep your eyes on the sky in January because this anime will be out of this world!
Over the weekend, it was revealed that the four-panel manga series Koisuru Asteroid will get a TV anime adaptation this coming January. Along with this announcement, we got all the details including cast, crew, key visuals, and a trailer!
The series itself is based on a manga by Quro, which has been running in the seinen magazine Manga Time Kirara Carat since January 2017. As of May 2019, it has two collected volumes on store shelves.
The story revolves around a teenage girl named Mira Kotohata who has had a strong interest in astronomy since she was a child. When she gets to high school, she decides to join the astronomy club only to find out it was disbanded a year earlier and was absorbed into the earth sciences club instead.
Here’s what we know about the crew for Koisuru Asteroid. Daisuke Hiramaki will sit in the director’s chair at the studio Doga Kobo. Yuka Yamada will handle the scripts and Jun Yamazaki is taking care of character designs. Takuro Iga will compose the background music. Toyama will perform the opening theme song while Minori Suzuki will perform the closing theme.
The primary cast list reads as follows:
Mira Konohata: Tomoyo Takayanagi
Ao Manaka: Megumi Yamaguchi
Mai Inose: Maria Sashide
Mikage Sakurai: Nao Toyama
Mari Morino: Sumire Uesaka
While some fans might balk at the idea of a manga series getting a TV adaptation after only two volumes, I feel strongly that it’s worth giving this series a chance before rushing to any sort of conclusion or opinion. 2020 will be a strong year for anime and this series could very well end up being the cherry on top of what will already be a very sweet year.
