Kimetsu no Yaiba Spinoff Announced

Following the ending of the main Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series last week, Shonen Jump has announced a spinoff featuring everyone’s enthusiastic and justice-centered Flame Pillar, Kyojuro Rengoku. While major details are still unavailable, we do know that the series is currently in production, will be titled Kimetsu no Yaiba: Rengoku Gaiden, and that the series author will be Ryoji Hirano (BOZEBEATS). Hirano also worked on last year’s Giyu Tomioka spinoff, Tomioka Giyu Gaiden. Hirano also released fan art of Rengoku on Twitter to congratulate Kimetsu no Yaiba author Koyoharu Gotouge on the series’ ending.

While Kimetsu no Yaiba: Rengoku Gaiden will surely be a one-off story containing a beloved character, it stands to wonder if the story might add another layer of depth to the upcoming Mugen Train movie. Also, while no other spinoffs have been announced, it’ll be interesting to see exactly who else gets a spinoff in the future, or if the Kimetsu no Yaiba series will get a sequel at some point, much like the Inuyasha sequel series that was recently announced. Characters from the series that I’d like to see get a longer spinoff include Urokodaki and the Ubuyashiki. While the main series may be over, it’s nice to know we’ll eventually get even more Kimetsu no Yaiba content to hold us over in the future as we wait to see what Koyoharu Gotouge works on next.

Are you looking forward to the spinoff? Still anxiously awaiting the release of the Mugen Train movie? Just want to make sure everyone knows who your favorite character from the series is? Look no further than J-List! We’ve got plenty of merch of everyone’s favorite Demon Slayers and villains, including limited edition Blu-rays of Season 1 of the anime. We’ve also got a particular parody on hand if you like your merch on the more adult side. Either way, it’s time to say goodbye to another great series and look forward to what comes next. See you there!
