Fans of the popular anime and manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will have more to look forward to as the series gets video game adaptations courtesy of Aniplex. The mobile game, titled Kimetsu no Yaiba: Keppū Kengeki Royale (Demon Slayer: Blood-Stench Blade Royale), will release sometime this year and is described as a survival action game that will pit teams of Demon Slayers and demons against one another. While the key image below contains both demons and Demon Slayers from the first season of the anime, there’s no word yet if the game will contain additional characters from the series at launch, or if those characters will be obtained through a gacha style system.
Also being published by Aniplex is a separate title for PS4 known as Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami Keppūtan. Little is known at this time about the Ps4 title, aside from the title, the release date being sometime in 2021, and scans that were made available from magazine V-Jump.
While the scans themselves show very little of the gameplay mechanics, the screenshots themselves suggest the game may be a playable version of the beginning arc of the series, akin to similar series that had video game adaptations made in the past. Whether this game will be better overall remains to be seen.
It’s great to see more Demon Slayer content in production, especially during these tough times, and especially as fans of the series await an official release date for the Demon Slayer movie since it was first announced last September. Until then, we’ve all got plenty of time to speculate when exactly the movie comes out, figure out who we’re going to want most on our team for the mobile game, and master the greatest Water Breathing attack of all: washing your hands.
