Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood Reveals Details

Forget everything you thought you knew about the Meiji era of Japan because the upcoming alternate history anime series Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood is going to change it all! In a press conference held on Tuesday, February 9th, Bushiroad revealed all the details regarding this upcoming original anime, including the premiere date, key visual, promotional video, cast, and crew details!

Looks pretty awesome, doesn’t it?

Premiering on April 6th, the series will feature animation produced by Bakken Record, with Susumu Kudo serving as the director. The team of Rika Nezu and Kunihiko Okada will write the series scripts. Kono Komiyama is producing the anime’s character designs while MICHIRU will compose the background music.

The characters are being portrayed by (character names first):

Makoto Tsukishiro: Shouta Aoi

Asahi Nakamura: Ayasa Itou

Sawa Yukimura: Suzuko Minori

Elena Hanakaze: Raychell

Jin Kuzuhara: Chikahiro Kobayashi

As mentioned earlier, Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood is an alternate history story taking place in the 64th year of the Meiji era (1931) and follows a group of government officials who serve as executioners enforcing the rule of the Tokugawa shogunate. Bushiroad is going all-in with this series, as this will be a multimedia project that includes a manga adaptation and a stage play later this year.

I’m not a major student on the subject of Japanese history. I know little snippets here and there, but I’m not exactly a learned individual who could recite specific dates from memory. I do love, however, original series that are willing to take chances such as completely rewriting certain eras of Japan’s past, and this one looks like it’s going to be a fun ride filled with tons of sword action!

I wish this series nothing but good luck in the lead-up to its April premiere!
