J.C.Staff has tantalized cultured otaku with another isekai series. Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers (Lv2 kara Chīto datta Moto Yūsha Kōho no Mattari Isekai Raifu) is another isekai series with a very long title, so we’ll be referring to it as Level 2 Cheat Powers for brevity’s sake. What sets this isekai cheat skill series is the inclusion of a hot wolf waifu. There are other cute girls, but she is an actual waifu. We’ll see if she has any rivals when the series premieres in 2024. The trailer will merely have to tide us over until then.
Miya Kinojo first released her novel Level 2 Cheat Powers to Shosetsuka ni Naro between 2016 and 2019. Kinojo began working with Overlap to adapt the series to a light novel format alongside the artist Katagiri. Fifteen volumes have been released as of December 25, 2016.
Our isekai protagonist and his cute wolf waifu are as follows:
- Banaza / Flio — Satoshi Hino (Ainz Ooal Gown in Overlord). He is a hero summoned to another world to fight evil. His summoners dismissed him because they saw he had no exceptional abilities. In reality, he is far more talented than any of them. However, he only wishes to live a peaceful life.
- Fenrys / Rhys — Rie Kugimiya (Nemu Kurotsuchi in Bleach). A powerful wolf demon. Per tribal law, she was forced to marry Banza after he defeated her in combat. Before long, she developed honest feelings for him.
J.C.Staff has set up a home page and a Twitter page to promote Level 2 Cheat Powers. Fans and potential viewers can find additional information and the Key Visual there. G123 has also developed a tie-in game with the anime adaptation. Fans can visit that home page and Twitter page for more information.
J.C.Staff Return to Another World
J.C.Staff is one of those studios that can considered truly “legendary.” The studio was founded long ago, on January 18, 1986, by Tomoyuki Miyata, who previously worked at Tatsunoko Production. They’re most known for their work on Edens Zero, the Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks? The Familiar of Zero, Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Azumanga Daioh, and One-Punch Man.
Refusal of the Call
Level 2 Cheat Powers follows what seems to be a typical isekai tale. Banaza, a regular merchant from another medieval fantastical world, is summoned as the 198th hero candidate to the magical kingdom Klyrode. He arrived with another man, the Blond Hero. Whereas Banaza has mediocre stats fit for a merchant, the Blond Hero has 999 across the board. As such, the Blond Hero was praised, and Banaza was ignored. They ignored him for so long that the dimensional gateway closed, and he could not return home.
The king “apologized” by sending Banaza far away, twenty days by carriage, to a forest. He was given only a magic bag for his troubles. Banaza found misfortune right away when a slime attacked him. He felled the creature with a weak sword that broke in one strike. However, this was enough for his true power to manifest: infinite stats and all the magic and skills that come with it. Banaza may have the skills of a legendary hero, but he truly wishes to live the simple life of a merchant. It’ll be tough to do that during a war between humans and demons.
Those looking for a cute girl with her own special isekai series need look no further. The Shiro 1/7 Figure Hot Spring Ver. from No Game No Life is now available for pre-order. Get your heads out of the gutter. That’s probably soap or something.
