It’s been a while since we had a look at the isekai series where potions can save the world. I Shall Survive Using Potions! (Potion Danomi de Ikinobimasu!) sees a woman perish in public due to a god’s mistake, and he’s quick to make it up to her. Nice guy, overall. However, in a similar situation to Am I Actually the Strongest? our protagonist’s cheat abilities stand out too much. We’ll see how she stands out when the series premieres on October 7, 2023. Let’s get a taste of her potions in the new trailer below.
FUNA began writing this charming isekai series on November 3rd, 2015, and it’s been kept updated on Shosetsuka ni Naro. Kodansha obtained the publishing rights and tasked the artist Sukima to adapt the series to a light novel format. Nine volumes have been published as of June 1st, 2017. The series was removed from Amazon because it did not meet “global content guidelines.”
Our isekai tale revolves around several cute characters, including:
Kaoru Nagase — Rin Kusumi (Lauren Laraiya du Luvierte in Skeleton Knight in Another World). An adult woman who died because of a god’s mistake. She’s sent to Verny with cheat skills to make up for it.
Francette — Tomoyo Takayanagi (Sarina Tendoji in Oshi no Ko). A dedicated knight who spent her youth training. She became younger thanks to Kaoru’s potion, and now follows Kaoru as her friend and guardian.
Studio Jumondou has maintained a home page and an official Twitter page to promote I Shall Survive Using Potions! Additional series information, and new key visuals, can be found there.
In Another World With My Potions
I Shall Survive Using Potions! follows Kaoru Nagase, someone who is both incredibly unlucky and very lucky. A distortion in space and time opened in her general area, killing her immediately. However, a god appeared and explained his mistake. To make it up to her, the god offered to grant her every wish. Kaoru was able to appear in the dreams of her friends and family to explain her situation. Her soul was then transported to another world.
Kaoru was sent to Verny, a world very much like her own. It matched medieval Europe, so it was close enough. The goddess Celestine was informed of the situation ahead of time, and agreed to grant her wishes. Kaoru asked for “cheat skills” and settled on regaining her original body, though at a younger age. She also wanted the ability to read, write, and speak the native languages.
After learning that magic and monsters existed in Verny, she wanted the ability to make whatever potion she wanted with whatever ability she wanted without requiring the base materials, and an infinite storage box. Kaoru also asked for Celestine to be her friend. Luckily, these requests were all granted.
Of course, there were unforeseen perks to this wish. Another hitch in her otherwise flawless plan is that, while magic existed, it wasn’t overly powerful. Indeed, Kaoru’s simple potions are, in fact, quite rare. This might put her plan to live an easygoing life in jeopardy.
